Havili’s decision to become a Trojan rather than go to the Church-centered university was “easy,” he said, because he wanted to compete with the best players in the nation.
this was also interesting
Faced with an approaching 19th birthday, a broken leg, the prospect of a close coach walking away and the lingering vision of going on a mission trip — something he had always imagined doing — Havili faced a decision that would ultimately decide his future as a football player. The fullback had to choose between staying to play football at USC and leaving for two years.
“My dad and mom wanted me to go on a mission, but it was totally up to me,” Havili said. “It was whatever felt right — [the decision] wasn’t concrete. I didn’t know if I was going to stay or go.”
He did what he had been taught to do his entire life — look to his faith for answers.
“We prayed and prayed, and we got a few blessings, and [staying to play football] is what I decided to do,” Havili said. “I needed to pursue this.”
Poor Bill Nye. The man collapses on stage at USC and not only does no on get up to help, the students just update their Twitter statuses. Wow. On the bright side for USC, it looks like the good people of the Big Easy upstaged them.
Kiffin said Baxter got a ride on campus Thursday in a golf cart driven by two students. The coach said USC later learned one of the students "may be an agent."
The school immediately reported the incident to the NCAA, Kiffin said.
"Obviously, we take this very serious, and we talked to Dillon," Kiffin said. "Dillon didn't know that (the student might be an agent), but we've turned it in to the NCAA, and in the meantime, Dillon won't be going (on the trip)."
Baxter rides in a golf cart on campus, the cart is driven by 2 students, and now he has to sit out? Since when are students agents, anyway?

Yes the men of Southern Cal seem to have officially quit on the season. The good news is that UCLA is so bad that I am pretty sure USU would beat them. ND however may see a chance to beat $C for the first time since 01.

I think it is over. They will win out and finish with a very mediocre season. Sanctions halfway over, which is good.
I haven't really been reading this thread though. I've been really busy at work.
Dozens of fans brawled in a Rose Bowl parking lot before the Southern California-UCLA football game Saturday, leaving two men stabbed, two police officers with minor injuries and three men arrested, authorities said.
About 40 fans of both schools fought at about 4:20 p.m. in a grassy part of Brookside Golf Course that the stadium uses for event parking, Pasadena police Cmdr. Darryl Qualls said
One person was stabbed in the cheek and the other was stabbed in the back during the melee some three hours before the crosstown-rivalry game between the Bruins and Trojans was set to start, Qualls said. Both were taken by ambulance to Huntington Memorial Hospital. He described their condition as stable.
