I don't care for fucla either but bad analogy.
So if Kiffin makes USC a top 16 program for five consecutive seasons then has a string of losing seasons I take it you'll be happy with him.

BTW, UCLA is the no. 1 or 2 basketball tradition. That wasn't good enough for them.

I had a nice discussion with Lavin on the Riverwalk at the 1998 Final Four. I always wished him the best. I'm just being honest!

Kiffin's trend has been one and done. That may not change.

      lol.

SU: Coach Lavin, can I have your autograph?
Lavin: Security, can someone please get this guy away from me, please?
      SU: ok, well, good luck!

Have you seen the photos of Mrs. Kiffin? Yowza! At least she's screwing Tennessee with Trojans.

          Updates from Wolfie:

A rival athletic director had this to say on USC's hiring of Lane Kiffin: ``If they get Norm Chow plus Ed Orgeron and Monte Kiffin, Winnie the Pooh could be the head coach.''
I think I will now refer to Kiff as Winnie the Pooh.

We hear UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel will hire former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach if Norm Chow goes to USC.
That could be very interesting. Although can fucla's current stable of QBs run a Texas Tech-type offense? Isn't that why you would bring in Leach? Presumably to duplicate what he was doing at Tech?

USC is talking to Norm Chow and salary figures being discussed are between $1-1.5 million per season.
That is f-you money for an OC. $1.5M per?!?!!? The good thing is that Norm can take the new job and then go home to his house and go to bed. No need to move, no need to change anything.

Wide receiver Kyle Prater of Hillside, Ill., who delayed his enrollment at USC this week is now planning on enrolling next week.
Fight On! This is also a good omen that SC picks up Chow.

What a difference 24 hours makes.

Kiff's presser was bumped back to 5PM PST, fyi.

Meaning no disrespect (I always cheer for USC when they play a team from the Midwest or East, and often in other cases) but why do fans on a Cougar-Ute board care about USC anyway?

Yes you do mean disrespect. I'm sure you hurt 3D.

Anway, apart from that, USC is like the moon, a gravitational pull. All MWC fans, and for that matter all fans in the west, should take interest in USC and be anti-USC.

It's the offseason, it's something to talk about. Normally we forget that USC even exists until the occasional cheerleader photo is posted. They play in the same conference as HUSKY FREE NORTHWEST's Rose Bowl team, right?

No intention of doing so. Hey, there are Dodger threads here and I consider those very important and necessary.

I care. I am a bandwagon SC fan. Started cheering for them in '01 after the Utes beat them in the Vegas bowl.

I will say this. Kiffen and Orgeron are pumped. I heard Orgeron on a radio interview and he was so stoked he could hardly contain himself. Lots of energy.

OK, if HL cares, then that's good enough for me.

was it a serious question? I couldn't tell.

Tennessee is getting killed today in recruiting. ESPN is reporting that 5 of there recruits have de committed today. Looks like they aren't winning the February championship this year.

There have also been reports that John Cullen, a top JC OLineman had it down to Tennessee and Utah. He visits Utah this weekend, so you've got to think that this could potentially sway him towards the Utes.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Actually, even better: he's dropped Tennessee. He said in an article last night that his top two are Oklahoma and Utah now, and he's visiting Kansas St this weekend.
