Oh the stories that will be on CB for the months (years?) following the game. I wonder how long before someone suggests that the beer thrown on them was actually by a Utah fan there cheering for Oklahoma? Over/Under 3 weeks.

This was my first thought, too! The beauty in this is the inevitable wave of horror stories.....tales of elderly Sooner fans vomiting in the stands, rowdy drunken Sooner wives dropping f-bombs on pacifist Cougar fans, and the gem of all gems......the anti-Mormon stuff.

Alcohol can truly bring out the worst in people.....but strange how it brings out the worst in sober people.

        • Oklahoma has scored 79 and 56 points in their last two season openers.

All BYU has to do to bring that average down is allow 9 TD's or less.

          • As the BLUE RIVER SHOOUTouT nears, anyone have a fun itinerary nailed down?

Also, has anyone heard anything about a BYU pep rally? Or even the dreaded fireside? BYU has to be one of the worst schools at putting together road trips.

Do we have an updated roll call? I don't think my wife is coming to Dallas, so my +1 is gone. While I enjoy going to games with her, my odds of getting a good seat have now increased dramatically. Singles are way easier and cheaper than pairs.

Is anyone going without tickets? I am still ticketless, as per my SOP.

I'm really considering going to Six Flags. Mock if you will, but the only thing that looks remotely interesting in Dallas is the site of the JFK shooting, and dang--Six Flags with no kids sounds pretty fun. Wife's coming. Parents are coming too, and my dad scored some tickets in one of the boxes from his company.

No tickets for me yet, per DDD's good/bad advice.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Most of you are leaving your kids at home? We're bringing them to Dallas but getting a sitter for the game.

I haven't been to an amusement park in 10 years. It would be fun. There's a Ripley's Believe It or Not over by Six Flags too. I just took my kids to the one in San Francisco and it was pretty fun.

The JFK museum was interesting. I'm glad I went.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

Yeah, we're going to buy day-of. I'm a little nervous because I've never done that before.

I love amusement parks and have tried to visit Six Flags whenever I was in a town that had one. I have never been to the Arlington Six Flags. The one in Houston was horrible....is it even still open? The only redeeming thing about it was that it was really close to a Pappadeaux restaurant. yum!

I am with you. It is shocking how unbelievably awful Dallas is as a destination. I have only been there on business, so didn't have a bunch of time to do much outside of the JFK-related activities (which aren't many, either...but worthwhile). Now that I am going as a tourist, I am shocked into shame to discover how Dallas is the 18th pale descendant of some old legitimate destination or other.

I used have a personal rank of USA cities in 4 tiers:

                    1. Global cities: NYC, LA
                    2. Metropolitan cities: Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas, Boston
                    3. Hubs (stuff to do, redeeming qualities or inherent natural beauty, but just not big enough to have a "big" city vibe: places like New Orleans, Houston, San Diego, Portland, Honolulu, Atlanta, Nashville, Las Vegas, et al....and since I don't want to offend anyone here...SLC
                    4. Very little point in visiting (outside family, funeral, wedding, or sporting event): Detroit, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Tampa, Orlando, Boise, Phoenix, Hartford, et al......

The list isn't exhaustive, by any means. But with regards to Dallas, I always considered it a fairly important city, mostly because it is a financial center in the South. We have key clients in Dallas. Money flows through Dallas. However, now that I look at it more closely, Dallas is awful. There is little to do there, it is visually unappealing, it is a very sub-par tourist destination, and the weather is uninviting for much of the year. Dallas gets bumped down on the list to #4. Sorry, Dallas, I know you are bummed!

I love six flags. Or I did when I was fourteen, anyway. Make sure to ride Judge Roy's Scream. I'm not positive it's up to code anymore, but it's old-school bone-jittering, teeth-clattering, airborne roller coaster fun.

I am being serious when I say that I will most likely wind up checking out the Oklahoma festivities on Friday night. I assume there is something going on?

Hearing a socalifornicator trash talk my hometown constitutes fighting words. Dallas doesn't want you, either. Stay home, especially if you're going to hang out with Okies. There's plenty to do in Big D.

LA, is, uh, not a global city. There are very few truly global business centers and LA is not even close...

I am open to a list of things to do while we are in Dallas. Now is your chance to shine. Let's hear it. So far, most people are coming up with zilch beyond eating a nice steak.

Is there a reason you brought "business center" into the discussion? That sloppy word play works on people with MBAs, not JDs.
