Thoughts about TCU vs. Boise

And finally, the records are hard to argue with. BSU has owned MWC teams this past decade, whether the MWC teams have been good or bad. Man, I don't understand how a TCU team that was so much better than last year can't beat a team they dominated last year. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

That isn't me, it is Jimmy Johnson putting them at #2......Jimmy Johnson, a man that has coached national championships in college and Superbowls in the NFL. Those are decent credentials.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThe no. 2 team will be Florida, Alabama or Texas. Not Boise. Boise won't be no. 2 on the strength of a win over the paper frogs. lol Will the frogs finish top 5 like the TIDE did last year?
It is pretty hard to argue that Boise State is not the most accomplished mid-major of the BCS era, esp with 2 impressive BCS wins over 2 very respected opponents.
The Ute matchup against Pitt will forever haunt them, I think.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I was just going to post this. Their only loss to a MWC team since becoming a DI-AA school was TCU last year in the bowl game. The most recent loss before that to a current MWC school? 1987, when they lost to Utah.Originally posted by John McClain View PostAnd finally, the records are hard to argue with. Here's the hard truth: Boise beating TCU just means TCU forfeits any claim to this team being hostorically significant. Life aint fair, I know, but TCU needed to take the wood to BSU like Florida did to Cincinnati for this TCU team to mentioned in the same breath with either Utah 2004 or Utah 2008. That was its lot because of the opponent it drew.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThat isn't me, it is Jimmy Johnson putting them at #2......Jimmy Johnson, a man that has coached national championships in college and Superbowls in the NFL. As for Boise, only Boise fans will remember this a few years from now. It will be like when HFN goes on about Oregon's great triumph over Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl and our eyes all glaze over (or when BYU fans talk about beating Kansas State in the Cottom Bowl). No one really cares about this game, especially given the outcome. At least in 2004 Utah was the first mid-major to get a bid to a BCS bowl and it delivered; that was news and history. Also, Pope Urban was our coach; the 2004 Utes are part of his aura and mystique. BOISE BEAT TCU. It didn't beat Bear Bryant's school in the SUG.

Hey Al Gore...while you are making stuff up about the Environment and Inventing the Internet...Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThis is just sad. You're all about hating Utah.
Cincinnati was undefeated. So was Hawaii. No one has done what Utah did last year. TCU was 12-0, so was Alabama, against a lot tougher schedule. TCU never had to play Tebow. The SUG was on the road.
Bama was not 12-0 last year when they weren't interested in playing Utah.

Were you saying something about Utah 2004 or 2008? My eyes were glazing over. Did Mike Waters attend the Fiesta Bowl? I would definitely be interested in seeing some close-up stills of the TCU song girls. So was Florida when it played on January 7. So was Florida when it played 12-0 Cincinnati on Jan 1. Too bad Boise didn't play Florida. We could have seen if it really is a great team.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostBama was 12-0 in 2008. I'll admit I was a BSU hater. I have thought for years that they were an overrated program with a cake schedule. Tonight they showed that they can play ball, and that they can stand toe to toe with any other overrated team who has a cake schedule. It's hard to say who would win or how they would match up, but it's a shame we can't see them play Texas or 'Bama.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostBwahahahaha....

I realize now what you were talking about. We were, however, arguing about who had to come further in building the 2008 Utes or the 2009 Frogs, Whit or Patteson. Also, TCU did have a better tradition than Utah before 2004.Originally posted by Viking View Post
I never said 2009 TCU was better than 2004 Utah or 2008 Utah. On the contrary.
