Agreed. The best thing Max did for his family was 2nd and 10 from the 25. TD!

I'm sure they were so heart sick at his horrific performance last year it's all a blur to them. So they're not wondering, "Why is Max lying? That didn't happen to us." Anyway, I'm guessing self-delusion is a life long discipline with them.

They probably felt spat upon and beer poured upon because of the way things went on the field, but whether it really happened, I have my doubts. Let me say right now that I suspect that tales of boorish Ute fan behavior is the great myth at the heart of the rivalry. Sort of like the way Tawana Brawley seized upon a stereotype about young urban black males.

Absent corroboratioin, here's the first question a lawyer would ask: Did they go to the press or the police at the time? Did Max say anything to anyone about this before yesterday? If not, then I doubt the story is true. I'm just wondering. Another clue is that Max "I hate everything" Hall is as of today an admitted liar in some respects--not a man who means everything he says.

Someone should take up the challenge and investigate this, like they did Paul H. Dunn's stories. Maybe for starters Junkie, who seems to know everything about BYU, could answer my questions.

Denial apparently ain't just a river in Egypt. Sorry Utes, but the behavior of some of your fans last year at RES (not the majority, but not just a scattered few, either), was absolutely abhorrent. And no, I saw absolutely nothing similar at any BYU-Utah game I've ever attended at LES. The MWC would be wise to schedule the BYU-Utah games at RES as early in the day as possible. The late start last year allowed the Pride of Utah to get REALLY liquored-up before game time. And it showed...

SU, why are you being so cold-hearted? A kid made some honest, yet regrettable statements. He apologized. I thought you valued honesty. He spoke the truth both times. He meant what he said and he regrets that he said it.

Because the statement didn't include an apology for hating the scientific method.

I think that he ought to mention a couple of things that were done to his family. It will help everyone understand more fully why he was pissed.

It's great that he didn't apologize for everything he said. Just clarified who he was talking about.

Was it the campus police? If so, there should be a public record and someone ought to get that recorded incident.

No clue if it was campus police or the local police assigned to the game. But if some one wants to go through the trouble of digging up the record I am sure it is out there.

Some of you will appreciate this, the comments that a small, small, small fraction of the Ute fan base have made in rejecting Max's apology:

I for one am not at liberty to presume to know Max's mind and accept his apology at face value and am no longer a member of that group.

It's a tad too defensive, but at least it's an apology.
Easy. He's saying he was really referring only to a small group of Ute fans at RES in 2008. You can see that is exactly what he meant when you read the language he used Saturday night:
I don't like Utah. In fact, I hate them. I hate everything about them. I hate their program, I hate their fans, I hate everything. I think the whole university, their fans, and their organization is classless.

                        Today he's saying this:
I made comments toward the entire university that were really directed specifically at those fans in RES. It was not intended to be directed at the entire organization and all of their fans and I apologize that it came out that way.

Silly us, for thinking that "their program . . . their fans . . . everything. . . . the whole university, their fans, and their organization" really "was not intended to be directed at the entire organization and all of their fans."

Kinda looks like an apology that had to be dragged out of the poor guy and that no one in University PR had a chance to edit so that it at least made sense.

I don't believe Junkie. I love junkie, but I think he's making this up. I googled Max Hall+family+911 and got a bunch of hist with blurbs including Hall's hate speech yesterday and Tiger Woods' 911 tapes. Nothing about the family calling 911 last year. I think we'd have heard about this. Has anyone heard about it?

If you're going to make up a story to defend your rant, at least make it plausible.

The comments in that group justify what Max said more and more. By the way did you see how many people that said Kyles wife was "punched" in the face.
