  • So where does Max end up among BYU QB's?

Statistically, it's tough not to put him with the "greats". But he's certainly been a head case in the big games. Maybe he's a great with an asterisk.

Today in the pre-game meeting the CC had, Holmoe said with time he will be remembered as a great one. Seems to me there is a real effort going on to educate the fans.

We got there late. I guess that is why there were just cookies and parfaits. The good food must have been already eaten.

How many great ones are there?

If there are 10 or so, then he's a great.

I don't know why people feel it's an insult to say Hall isn't as good certain past BYU QB's.

I'd slot him somewhere in between John Beck and John Walsh.

I would only count 4 as great. I am a hard grader.

I opined after 2007 that I thought he was Kevin Feterick with a better supporting cast. I think I was wrong, he is clearly better than Feterick but not by a significant amount. I think his comments reflect a deeper issue that I bet not all of his teamates will miss.

He is probably speaking about next year that is going to be rough. Fans, who are notorious for short memories, are likely to miss him as the next qb cuts his teethe. However, if this Heaps kid is all that and a bag of chips and the recruiting gurus have him pegged properly, my guess is BYU fans will have forgotten "15" by October 2011.

Hall will be remembered for 1) 5 INTs & a fumble vs. Utah in 2008, 2) what he said tonight, 3) winning a bunch of games no one remembers except for Oklahoma this year, and the two Ute wins, and those will be bitter sweet.

I'm not being mean, just honest. Go to Utefans and you'll see he made their night. Tonight he finished defining himself for history.

We don't care how you and Utefans will remember him. You might as well remember him throwing 10 INTs last year and having 3 consecutive 4 win seasons with no wins over the Utes. Feel free to add in any other meaningless stats.

Did Seattle even watch the game? Wouldn't be surprised if he had a big ballet event to go to instead. Go back to trolling the religion board noone even Ute fans take any of your sports take seriously, especially when you are obviously trolling.

It depends on what scale you're using. I'd think after his post-game comments he'd certainly have to be considered most douchy. I can't imagine any of the greats behaving like that.

McMahon, Young and Detmer are the greats right? Hall is not the Roosevelt to round out Mt. Rushmore. If the greats are more like the cover of Sgt. Pepper's then Max is somewhere on the edge of the second row.

As an opposing fan here is how I have byu qbs ranked during my lifetime

                            Mcmahon
                            Detmer
                            Young
Doman (lavell's biggest mistake was not playing him sooner at qb)
                            Boscoe
                            Beck
                            Hancock
                            Walsh
                            Hall
                            Feterik
                            Covey
Whoever played for byu in 2003
*i can't rate sarkisian as I was on my culturally mandated two year exodus when he played

Hall benefited by playing only one game in salt lake. The two byu won in provo are most likely losses in salt lake and the one he lost is still a loss in provo. I don't think he was ever the best qb in the conference (well maybe 2007). He still was a very good college qb whose teams he was on had great success

The tell with hall was bronco not calling timeout in order to give him a drive to win the game.
