LOL! How does a guy in his late 30s still enjoy trolling so much? C'mon, DDD, let's talk about the game and fun parts of the rivalry. I didn't say that and you know it.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostLA Ute's contention that poor behavior is acceptable against one's rival is exemplary of the knuckle-headedness that typifies rivalry games.
USC fans are the worst, by the way. I've been with friends wearing Bruin gear many times during the rivalry week here when Trojan frat boys drive by and it has not been pretty.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

I wonder how much of the yelling and "F'ing Mormons" stuff was hurled our way because we were walking down with that guy that was painted blue? Didn't he have a flag, as well?Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostExactly I was with DDD last year as we walked down to the stadium and he can verify how crazy Ute fans got with a few in our group. Including a few near fights breaking out and just down right hatred from Utefans.
I still remember this guy running up over this little hill and going batshit crazy.
The U has a nice campus. Would have been fun to stop and chat it up with the tailgaters. The people we passed en route were not in much of a mood to chat it up, so it seems.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

This is the kind of stuff that helps perpetuate the poor behavior. Why worry about who started it? There's no excuse for a BYU player punching fans, and there's no excuse for chucking a drink in someone's face (if that ever happened).Originally posted by LA Ute View PostLet's see the video.

Here is a good rivalry story that you may be able to still dig up in the papers. It was a few years ago and myself and a group of buddies went to the BYU vs Utah basketball game. After the game (one in which BYU won, I think it was their first win at the Huntsman in quite a while) we were walking out when we saw a little kid about 7 or 8 taunting a Utah fan (maybe early 20s) the utah fan takes a bottle of water and dumps it on the kids head.
A friend of mine ran over and pushed the Utah fan, all hell broke loose and it became a pretty nice sized rumble. Cops were called etc. Good times.
As we were leaving I saw a bunch of Utah recruits (this was their big football recruiting weekend) that Kemoeatu kid was there and was watching the whole thing. He says afterwards "Man Utah fans are pussies letting these punk ass mormons kick their asses"
He never did end up at Utah, I like to think I played a part in this.*Banned*

Yeah how dare he wear school colors and represent his team. We deserved everything we got for even showing up to the game.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI wonder how much of the yelling and "F'ing Mormons" stuff was hurled our way because we were walking down with that guy that was painted blue? For me personally I rarely get messed with at these games not sure why.*Banned*

I didn't say SC fans don't do it. I said any fan that does it is a knucklehead. Why retract your position now? You tacitly endorsed the poor treatment of campus visitors. I am simply saying that such an attitude is basically the root of the problem.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostLOL! How does a guy in his late 30s still enjoy trolling so much? You find it funny that visitors to another campus would expect decent treatment. This speaks more to you than it does to the visitors.
I am always friendly to fellow tailgaters at football games. If people have a problem, I just keep on walking. Not interested in stupid crap and yelling at people and telling people to f off. It is much more entertaining to talk to the other fans about both programs, thoughts on the game, etc.
This Saturday will be no exception for me. I have no plans to yell at people as they walk to the stadium.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I thought it was stupid and I think you and I commented to each other about it. I am just wondering if those folks thought the Blue guy was an easy target. The Mormon stuff seems to be the fallback, just as the apostate stuff seems to be the fallback for weak-skilled BYU fans at LES.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostYeah how dare he wear school colors and represent his team. I never get messed with, either because people know that I will simply respond with a very witty retort...and I don't care if they are with their wife or kids, either!Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I have only had real bad experiences wearing the blue to another stadium.
USC and Arizona. I have only been to each place once. I have been to Wyoming about 4 times and at Ute game probably 6-7 times.
Of course the Ute games were back in the day when we always kicked their butts. Maybe things have changed.

Question for Utah fans. Have you ever heard a group or individual yelling, chanting, or drunkenly slurring anti-mormon or otherwise offensive things towards seemingly innocent opposing fans. If so have you ever said anything to the offending party?
The only times I have ever had verbal sparring and nearly physical altercations is with fellow BYU fans I felt were acting like idiots. 1 occurance was at the most recent Notre Dame game, where a BYU fan screamed at the ref, "you are raping us just like Catholic priests do to little boys." My older brother went ape <redacted> on the guy, but he didn't spout off for the rest of the game.

Because he is in the LA UTe camp and thinks that you deserve what you get for showing up to your rivals campus in the wrong color.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postwhy didn't Mormon Red Death speak up on behalf of his own kin?!
Its like Bloods vs Crips out there. I am just happy to know that Snoop Dogg is a crip and has our back.*Banned*

Wyoming was the site of the most conflicted fan taunting experience of my life......people threw some stuff at us when we stood up to cheer......but amongst the stuff they threw was an unopened package of two chewy oatmeal raisin cookies! Is it possible to be angry and happy at the same time? I was that day, for sure.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI have only had real bad experiences wearing the blue to another stadium.
