Pablo Sandoval is 245 pounds of sheer awesomeness.

No way he weighs 245. I am putting him more around the 270 mark.
He's listed at 5'11" and 245. I'd guess its really an inch less and 15 lbs. more.

That was an awful series for the umpires. The two calls they missed in the second game would not have mattered. But they missed 3 calls in the first game. Then they missed 4 today, Pablo was clearly hit on the elbow, Schierholtz was clearly safe, and Furcal was out. Also the ump at second originally called Sandoval out on the missed tag.
Unbelievable, the Giants should have never been in that situation with 14 runners left on base though.
Lincecum pitched a gem against a potent lineup today.
The Dodgers are a patient hitting team which has been a key ingredient in their run production this season. They work the count and then look for a ball to drive. The Dodgers are near the top of the NL in BB as evidence of their patience.
In the first two games of the series the Dodgers took a lot of first-pitch balls and then raked when the count was in their favor.
Lincecum took advantage of the Dodgers batting tendencies today. 47% of his first pitches were strikes. He only faced 30 batters, surrendering three hits over nine and two-thirds innings, but beyond those numbers he was a terrific exhibition in keeping hitters off balance.
For the first five innings his first pitch to batters was almost exclusively a FB (81%). On the second and third time through, the Dodgers, of course, were looking first pitch FB for a strike. But from the sixth on what does Linceum throw?
In the sixth through the ninth Lincecum starts nearly every batter off with a CB with most of those being for strikes. He went to his commanding curve 78% of the first pitches the rest of the way through, allowing only one legit hit in the final three innings.
Great rivalry game today. It also kept Lincecum's streak against the Dodgers intact; he has not lost against LA in his big league career, IIRC.
An extra-inning game is always fun to watch when there is a lot riding on it. Tonight was no exception. 1-1 into the 15th. Of course that didn't last forever, being in Colorado. And the comeback by The Rockies sunk the season for the Giants.
If the Giants don't make the post-season, which is now increasingly in the rearview mirror, I think they fire Brian Sabean.
No kidding. 11 days without a single post in this thread. This is painful to watch!

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
