If I may explicate just how irritated I am with Barry Zito...
...particularly with today's start. $126 million over 7 years to end up 4-9 at the break this year. But, the groupies still defend him. There isn't enough PBR on tap here at Buffalo Wild Wings to excuse this. Even Johnathan Sanchez earned his freedom. Wow..."There's no such thing as someone who used to be a Raider fan. Zito is the most overrated pitcher in baseball.Originally posted by 8BR View PostThe Giants shred the Pad's lineup (one of the worst in the game) for three straight games, then Zito rolls out there today and they light him up. Pablo Sandoval not making the all-star game is a true travesty. In fact with Cain getting hurt the Giants only having one representative is also a joke.
How does Jayson Werth or Shane Victorino get in over Pablo? (besides the fact that Charlie Manuel picked Werth).
Lets look at the numbers at the break:
Jayson Werth
.263 average, 20 homeruns, 56 rbis. .884 OPS, 81 hits, 158 total bases.
Shane Victorino
.309 average, 6 homeruns, 42 rbis, .375 OBP, 108 hits, .839 OPS, 162 total bases
Pablo Sandoval
.333 average, 15 homeruns, 55 rbis, .385 OBP, 102 hits, .964 OPS, 177 total bases.

Lincecum at 500 inninings:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ml?eref=sihpT1Lincecum just passed 500 big-league innings, and at this milepost you have to rank him with some of the greatest pitching prodigies of the past quarter century. Here's just one sampling of the company he keeps, comparing him to Clemens, Gooden and Pedro Martinez when they passed the 500-inning mark:
Pitcher.........W-L (PCT) ERA SO
Gooden........42-13 (.764) 2.00 550
Lincecum......35-12 (.745) 2.95 564
Clemens.......41-15 (.732) 3.15 456
Martinez.......39-22 (.639) 3.22 494

Speaking of Lincecum, he pitched okay--not as terrible as I thought he initially did--last night in two innings. He attributed it to nerves more than anything. I remember Kruk and Kuip throwing that excuse out there on opening day against the Brewers when Tim only went 4 innings. Here's the link in case you're wondering what the hell I'm talking about:

The first half inning was pretty sloppy all the way around; bad throw by Wright, Puljos has an error, Lincy hits a batter. They were lucky to only be down two at the end of it.Originally posted by RaiderUte View PostSpeaking of Lincecum, he pitched okay--not as terrible as I thought he initially did--last night in two innings. You could tell Lincecum was nervous, his fastball was high and it wasn't until the 2nd that he really went to his 12-6er.
