He wasn't walking away from 209 million. Sac decided they didn't want to invest that in him. Problem is they got nothing in return. But Ranadive loved Buddy Hield so he over valued him. Owners need to write checks and not evaluate talent.
Now you really are being dumb. He's the best center in the NBA. New Orleans stole him.
Boogie is an incredible player. He needs the right structure around him and I am not sure NOLA is that, but there is no denying his basketball abilities.

Is he? Based on potential and occasional demonstrated ability I suppose so. But he is a head case. He gets too many technicals, he takes far too many plays off, he has lately shown no effort on defense, he is too wrapped up in his own little world and if I was an owner I would be afraid of what a long term 200 million+ contract would do to his motivation, which is already highly suspect or, at the least, inconsistent. I have a few Kings games and I never watch this guy and see him improve consistently (think Gobert over the last couple of seasons) or get the feeling that he is carrying the team or even helping them disproportionately. NOLA, which may not be a good place for cousins, as Flystripper already said, gets a guy who has said that he will not sign long term with any team that might take him in a trade and they get his lousy attitude and they are going to make him share with Davis? That said, it is clear the Kings are a train wreck and maybe Cousins will blossom in a new environment. Maybe Cousins will be a playmaker sort of big standing out on the three point line and distributing the ball to Davis or taking the three as needed. He has been playmaking more lately. But I dont think so. I think he is a talented but off-kilter guy who has shown exactly what he is already.

Those are his last 5 seasons in scoring. Continues to improve every year.
Rebounds continue to hover around 11 which is his career average.

Those are his 3 point percentages. He is taking a career high 5 attempts per game this year as well. So not only has he improved, he has added a new element to his game and he is fairly efficient for a big.

Those are his assist numbers. Again he continues to improve and now he is sharing the basketball more.

Efg% .494 would tie a career high.
Sure, based on his numbers it's an easy case to make. But I watched the Kings play the Warriors a week or so ago and he did not impress in that game. The thing that bothered me the most is that he was so lazy on defense. Never watched for the back door, often late coming down the floor, etc. This guy has got all the potential in the world, But I don't like him as a player and like I said, I wouldn't want him getting a long term contract on my dime.
Sacramento hasn't won more than, what, 25 or 30 games since he has been there? (Although I think they are on pace this year to do so.) I don't blame him for all that, as the franchise is a mess, but even so, they havent won with him, he has a lousy attitude, and he is going to cost hundreds of millions of dollars to keep. Good trade? If I have to choose either NO's or Kings' position I would rather be NO, but on balance if I have Anthony Davis I think I try to build my team with other people rather than Cousins. OTOH, if he can deliver 27 and 11 along side of Davis and not poison the team, then it is a great deal. Assuming he stays.
The All Star game is unwatchable. It is even less watchable than the slam dunk competition. Awful.
I enjoy it. It's not "competitive basketball" but if you just watch it as the best players in the world goofing around in a pickup game just to show off then it's pretty entertaining.
As far as Cousins goes, the guy has gotta be so thrilled to be getting out of such a terrible organization in the Kings. You can't blame Cousins for what a bad team that has been. Coaching carousel, horrible draft picks, when they finally do make a great draft pick in Isaiah Thomas they can't hang on to him. Cousins is going to play great and I wouldn't be surprised if the Pelicans take their first round opponent to 6 or 7 games.

Don't forget they had Hassan Whiteside too. They could have done this with their own team. Whiteside, Cousins, IT, Rudy Gay. That's easily a playoff team.
