The Pacers have looked good at times. I watched them beat Miami and was impressed.Originally posted by New Mexican Disaster View PostI have got a soft spot for Drew Gooden after I saw him at the airport in Oakland this summer. I talked to him for about 10 minutes, he was really nice, and we talked about Finland (his mother is Finnish and I am too).
I did not have the nerve to ask about the hair though.
Also, I noticed the Lakers lost tonight to Indiana. Now the Pacers are improving but what the hell? Is this a Charlotte Bobcats thing where they inexplicably cannot beat them or what? Did anyone see the game? Was it a case of Kobe trying to do too much?
Gasol struggled with Hibbert. No. Seriously. He did. I am sure JaX will have some darts to throw at him. The Killer B's also had their second lame game. The bench has been averaging 34 PPG. I think they had 11 against Utah and just 14 last night. Those are the two differences in the game and why the Lakers lost. Not Kobe. Kobe brought them back into it much like he did in Utah before falling short."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Yeah, that is what I was wondering. Indiana made a huge improvement by adding Darren Collison and Hibbert is far, far better than most assumed. Still we have got to win those especially at home. The bench will have some up and downs since so much of their offense is predicated on jump shooting.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThe Pacers have looked good at times. I wondered about the game because i saw the 33 fga's by Kobe and wondered whether he took over because he had too, or whether he had a Kobe one on one explosion.

A little of both. With Pau struggling from the field and the bench also, Kobe started jacking shots. He brought them within 1 with not much time left. After Pau lost Hibbert giving up a wide open dunk Kobe had a chance to tie it but missed two 3 pointers. What was disappointing about it though was after he missed the first Artest got the offensive board, dribbles out to the corner 3 and then passes back inside to Odom who backs it out past the three who passes on the shot and throws it to Kobe who is 35+ feet out and has to throw up a stupid 3 which falls a foot short. Artest and Odom shirked and looked to Kobe to bail them out.Originally posted by New Mexican Disaster View PostYeah, that is what I was wondering. Uh oh. Is it time to replace Jackson?

Kobe couldn't hide his disgust with Artest on that last shot, thinking he never should have passed the ball to Ron-Ron.
I was watching the Memphis broadcast. At one point their announcers said something like "It is good that Blake is in there since he's not as good a shooter as Fisher."
Uh.....Blake's career FG percentage and 3-pt FG percentage are better than Fishers (41% to 40% and 39.5% to 37.5%) and Blake is shooting 3s really well this season (46%).
It never ceases to amaze me how people whose JOB is analyzing basketball just talk out of their asses like that.

I sure you remember listening to an entire season of that when Fisher was on the Jazz. Fisher was starting at the 2 and everyone was singing his praises. Meanwhile, Gordan Giricek was leading the team in 3pt shooting by a mile.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostKobe couldn't hide his disgust with Artest on that last shot, thinking he never should have passed the ball to Ron-Ron.

The lakers need a players only meeting of their own. What is going on with these losses? The Utah loss is fine but these others are a joke. Indiana? Memphis?
The giants won the world series so I wonder if the jazz will win the ring this season. Stranger things have happened.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

They look completely different than the team from the first 10 games of the season.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThe lakers need a players only meeting of their own. What is going on with these losses? The Utah loss is fine but these others are a joke. Indiana? Memphis?

I wonder if they are bored and complacent? For whatever reason, the Lakers have generally taken a very lazy approach to the regular season. Back in the Kobe Shaquille days and now seeing the same thing again. Perhaps winning so many games at the start has given them a false sense of confidence. We need to play the spurs. Kobe respects the Spurs and sometimes a good arse kicking is what helps gets things back in order. Make no mistake, the current Spurs would likely lay a beat down on this current lazy Laker squad.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThey look completely different than the team from the first 10 games of the season.Fitter. Wow, that's impressive. See, and it's not even your job to know this stuff and I bet a lot of serious fans like you know more about the NBA than the majority of these professional basketball analysts.Originally posted by Surfah View PostFisher is shooting better than Blake this year from 3.
Fisher and Blake should shoot nothing but 3s. When you look at the point-per-shot ratio for Blake and Fisher, their 3-point shooting is the equivalent of shooting almost 70% from 2-point range.
No wonder the Lakers haven't been losing until recently.

Fisher was shooting over 60%. But he's stunk it up going 0-9 from deep in his last 5 games. Despite that he's just one make below 50%.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostWow, that's impressive.
