Lakers 2009-2010 schedule was just released today. Here is a full breakdown:
http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/0910s...breakdown.html
This season, LA opens at home...vs the Clippers. Will be a nice one to see how Blake Griffin stacks up. Welcome to the league, kid.
17 of first 21 are at home. Unfortunately, this also means the obligatory 8 game/13 day roadie in early 2010. March is also brutal....4 home games, 11 roadies.
It is nice to have the Christmas Day game at home this year. This is the 4th time in 5 years that the league has paired Kobe v Shaq on Christmas. Also, I love the ESPN headline on this piece. And the first sentence alone....I am sure LBJ is thrilled to have been demoted back down to second billing. It is going to be all Shaq all year long in Cleveland:
NEW YORK (AP) - The NBA is bringing Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal together again for Christmas — this time joined by LeBron James.

I take that challenge and raise you a "bullshit".Originally posted by Surfah View PostMaybe I should get to work on my own since I have so much free time.
It would be funny if you made a video of Kobe hitting shots that LeBron misses. Or something of that nature.I'm your huckleberry.

I have now watched that video 3 times through as well. It is unbelievable. A few thoughts:
-The lights out at Staples is sick. It creates such a better stage for the game. Just look at the difference in the video between the home and away games. I have to see a game there. Soon.
-I hated the idea of the alternate white jerseys at first. They've grown on me a ton.
-Related, I hated the idea of the Lakers changing from the scoop neck to the swingman jersey cut. I remember reading a cryptic interview with West years ago announcing that they were changing the uniform. I didn't know if they were changing colors, logo, or what. I was so pissed all day. But something West said was that the new uniform was beautiful. And that comforted me. I was relieved to see that they didn't alter the logo or colors. I dig the swingman.
-Kobe was wearing knee high socks in one highlight. He should do it more."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

The theater lighting is awesome. You either love it or you hate it. I obviously love it. It adds all sorts of drama to the game.Originally posted by Surfah View PostSo basically I need footage of jumpers 12'-15' out. I'm on it.

About the old logo.....one thing I have noticed over the years....if you look at pics of the old unis, there was a strange flaw, likely unintended, that not many people discuss. It was corrected with the advent of the new uniforms (late 90s?). On one occasion, Rob Fukizaki and Norm Nixon were doing Lakers post-game at ESPNZONe in Downtown Disney. We were there at the park, so I swung over to check out the taping. During one of the commercials, I approached Norm Nixon to ask him about the flaw. He said that he hadn't thought about it before and nobody had ever mentioned it to him, but he agreed with me on that flaw. He may have just been being nice, but when the new jerseys were released, I noticed that they changed it immediately.
Do you know what it is? Look at pics of the old jerseys and look at pics of the new ones. Take a guess.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Lakers was crooked in relation to the numbers on the front of the jersey.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostDo you know what it is? Bingo. How did you know that? Very good.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostLakers was crooked in relation to the numbers on the front of the jersey.
The old jerseys had the logo sewn on crooked for whatever reason. The word "Lakers" varied in size, but it was always sewn on in an upward slant in relation to the numbers.
When the new jerseys were released, it was immediately evident that they went away from that old styling. In fact, when the Lakers did that throwback game 2 seasons ago with the old jerseys and short shorts vs the Celtics, the old jerseys had the new lettering layout and it actually looked a little weird.

What makes you think it was a flaw? I'm pretty sure it was just a style choice. I like the both jerseys, but I don't look at the old one and thing "man, they just can't seem to get it right."Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I'll go with Norm Nixon agreeing with me over your attempt to employ the Socratic method.Originally posted by falafel View PostWhat makes you think it was a flaw? Sure, I can see that. A retired former player suffering the banal uniform questions of a fan while he's trying to record the post-game at Disneyland, an obvious attempt to remain "part of the game" long after his playing years are over. Yeah, that's a "take it to the bank" sort of interaction. Afterwards, did he tell you to "scram, kid, I got work to do."Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI'll go with Norm Nixon agreeing with me over your attempt to employ the Socratic method.
But hey, who am I to question your interaction with NORM NIXON! Lakers' color guy! I'm sure you and Norm have solved the mystery. Strange how all those years, no one but the unstoppable duo of Norm and DDD could crack the mystery of the crooked logo. Yep, a flaw. No question about it.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different.
