Bednar throws first pitch at Dodger game.
It was at Mormon night on Saturday night.

Also, Kirby sang the National Anthem:

Pretty good form from what I can tell from a photo. YOhio should learn to take a compliment.

I hope his pitch from the pitcher's mound looked as good.

His glove arm is a little loose. He'll open up too soon and miss high and to the right.

Here's a nice link for you. I know you probably missed this, you've been so busy in that great NHL offseason thread.
Congrats on the sweep of the A's. Hey and all it took was paying more than double for your roster and the A's being at the end of an extended road trip.

I'll still confused why the Tigers don't have the better record considering they are playing in a shitty division and spending so much more.

Eh. It's what the Tigers do. Sometimes play mediocre baseball through the regular season, and still go further than the A's in the postseason.

Good thing the A's have such an efficient salary system. It gives A's fans something brag about when their team gets bounced in the ALDS year after year.

I think the good thing is more for teams like the Tigers. Can you imagine what would happen if the Tigers had to play on an even playing field?

By the way, you regretting the Cabrera deal yet. First year in and he has already regressed, it is going to get really ugly at the back end of that deal.

Last time I checked, I'm not paying Miguel's salary. I would maybe regret it if Detroit had difficulty paying for other players. But so far Ilitch seems ready to keep opening the wallet talent. So no, what do I care about Miggy's salary?

A's gut the farm system for Samardzija and Hammels. I hate this trade.

Of course you would. You seem to prefer an A's team that makes the playoffs but never advances.

It's OK to mortgage the future to win now . . . as long as you actually win now.

Exactly the part funk is worried about.

I like this trade. Puts them in win-now mode. Something we haven't seen from the A's in a long time.

This trade doesn't make them any more likely to get lucky in the playoffs.

funk, you need to embrace this. They're pushing their chips forward and going for it all. I hope it works out for them.

In related news, the Cubs now have the #3, #5, #6 and #18 prospects according to BP.
