I think they do something similar in hockey. Take that with a grain of salt, however, as I have never watched a hockey game on TV.

I am sorry for you. There is televised hockey out there so exquisite that if you had an inkling of what you are missing you would be crushed and debilitated under an intolerable weight of despair and regret.

Giants sign Tim Hudson to a two year deal worth $23 million.

Agree, it will be interesting. I wonder what type of communication will occur between the umpire crew chief and the reviewers in New York. Sometime reviews are more complex than did the runner beat the tag or was he tagged? For example, was the fieler or runner obstructed during the play before being tagged? Rules might also have to be ammended. For instance, an umpire rules immediately that a batted ball is trapped by an outfielder; runner on 2nd sees the "no catch" call, doesn't tag and rounds third and beats the throw home. Manager appeals the "no catch" call and upon review, it is determined a catch was made. I guess the runner has to return to second base even though he technically scored.

What if the runner on second gets thrown out at home by the outfielder after "trapping the ball" and then the batter gets thrown out at second trying to advance on the throw? That's a double play. Then the other manager appeals the "no catch" call and it's determined that a catch was made so the batter is out and the runner has to return to second? No double play?

It will be interesting. There's got to be some form of communication between umpires on the field and review umpires in New York so complex plays can be explained. Also wonder if TV review will apply to check swings.

Fielder to the Rangers. The Rangers must have been looking for someone that is clutch during the playoffs.

It's so hard to repeat, and it really feels like the 2013 Red Sox caught lightning in a bottle. I think you're safe.

That is sure kind of them to give that much money to a below average pitcher. At least it is a short commitment.

This is move appears to be for 2 reasons. 1) To get Cabrera's awful defense at 3B moved back to 1B so that he hurts the team less defensively. 2) Give financial relief for the upcoming Scherzer contract.

Dave Cameron really likes the trade for the Tigers.

He is fairly indifferent about the trade for the Rangers

Yankees do what they do, overpay for a Sox player, seemingly out of spite.

I like Ellsbury a lot. Really a great team player. But 153 million for 7 years? For someone who has minor but continual injury issues?

Funny because the A's offered him the same exact deal. He decided he would rather win.

I would say the same thing about the A's with that offer. It was probably also a bit of a sentimental offer.

So who won more games last year, the A's or the Giants? Maybe it is more that he didn't want to deal with sewage in the clubhouse.

I'm happier with the Kazmir deal than I would have been with the Hudson deal.

I don't care about who wins more games, I care about championships. Neither team won a championship last year, for one team that is a failure, for the other they were just happy to make the playoffs.

The A's are the perfect team for a ute fan to root for, some people are satisfied with 2nd place and moral victories.
