  • Kings trying to get Andre Miller and have offered Thornton or Fredette for him. I'm sure the Nuggets can do much better than Thornton or Fredette in a Andre Miller trade and it would be a moronic trade to make.

Shaw has been an absolute train wreck for the Nuggets. Great job running George Karl and his 57 wins out of town for Shaw.

"Train wreck" might be overstating it a bit. They are 17-17 and haven't had their best player all season. Has Shaw been a downgrade in comparison to what Karl might have done? Perhaps, but I wouldn't call 17-17 with the Nuggets roster a train wreck.

        Who is their best payer?

And I kinda doubt there is much of a trade market for Miller. Several teams will want him, and should, but they aren't going to give up major assets for a 39 yo backup, even though he is still pretty good. Maybe I'm wrong.

It's still early and in slow motion, but Shaw in Denver will eventually end up as a total train wreck. Apparently Shaw is in over his head, and is losing to the team 14-1. I'm interested in this as I breathed a huge sigh of relief when Portland passed on him for Stotts.

I was referring Gallinari. A case could be made for Lawson, but even if Gallinari is the second best player, my point remains that what Shaw has done with them in his absence, isn't a train wreck.

            • The Lakers roster is so bad right now, I am actually amazed they are 14-22.

              Last night they started:

              Wesley Johnson
              Pau
              Robert Sacre
              Jodie Meeks
              Kendall Marshall

              Off the bench:

              Nick Young
              Jordan Hill
              Ryan Kelly
              Chris Kaman

Compare that to a team like the Kings who has 3 fewer wins than LA.

              They start:

              Rudy Gay
              Ben Mclemore
              Damarcus Cousins
              Jason Thompson
              Isaiah Thomas

              Off the bench
              Derrick Williams
              Jimmer
              Marcus Thornton
              Quincy Acy

Sacramento has much better talent than this Laker team currently.

              Even Milwaukee has more talent.

I was thinking about this the other day as well. That starting lineup is awful.

                • I've always thought of KG and Duncan as being significantly underrated (well, not always on Duncan, but I've come around to the idea the past several years). KG's career got hijacked in Minny for far too long. But for him to do what he did on offense and the glass while giving the kind of defensive effort he always did is incredible.

But I might have to start putting Dirk up there with those two. He isn't anywhere near their class because Duncan and KG were defensive anchors for championship teams and great defensive players their whole career, but Nowitzki has had an amazing career:

                  @DwainPrice

Dirk has joined Kareem, Hakeem, Garnett and K-Malone as the only players to collect 25,000 pts, 9,000 reb, 3,000 assists and 1,000 steals.

There are several benches around the NBA that are terrible, so it's the starters that seem particularly bad by comparison. But yes, the bench is brutal as well.

right now LAL only has one starter that is really a starter. The rest of its starters are questionable off the bench. The bench is abysmal.

there better be a plan in place. this is starting to feel an awful lot like the 90s

Dunleavy. Pfund. Harris. Legends from another decade in the twilight of their careers. A bunch of role players filling out the roster. All-time great makes a brief return. Yeah it sounds real familiar. Hopefully there is a Shaq and Kobe in the near future.

Yeah, the days of Tony Campbell being the team's best player and leading scorer must have been rough on Laker fans.
