Actually, players were able to skip college and go straight to the NBA.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Don't know, but I bet CJ does! I actually looked up Alex Jensen, because I thought he ended up being drafted from that team as well, or at least played a year or two in the NBA. He didn't, but did play several years in Europe. He was also way better as a collegian than any of the guys you just listed.Originally posted by Pelado View PostIs anyone else from that BYU Sweet Sixteen team even playing in Europe?
Hartsock
Abouo
Emery
Collinsworth (injured - missed 28 games)
Collinsworth
Magnusson
Zylstra
Anderson
Rogers
Martineau
Winder (redshirt)
Carlino (redshirt)So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Hartsock had a 3 month stint in Belgium and is now coaching the team.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostDon't know, but I bet CJ does! Abouo is playing in one of the lower level European leagues.

1995: 1 high school player in the first roundOriginally posted by smokymountainrain View PostGood point. Kobe, T-Mac and KG were absolutely dominating college basketball during Miller's time.
At least the best players were playing in college when Fredette was at BYU.
1996: 2 high school players drafted in the first round
1997: 1 high school player drafted in the first round
1998: 1 high school player drafted in the first round
You are right that makes such a huge difference with an average of just over 1 player not playing college hoops during that time period. Now go look at those drafts and see how more and more of the lottery players were at least playing 2 years. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

1996- Kobe Bryant and Jermaine O'neal
1997- Tracy Mcgrady
1998- Al Harrington
I agree that none of these players would have made any difference in the NCAA landscape during that time.*Banned*

In light of this conversation, it is funny that Miller was beaten out for POY by a sophomore, while Jimmer's main competition was another senior.Originally posted by mpfunk View Post1995: 1 high school player in the first round

a senior that went undefeated through the big east tourney then won the national championship. Wright was good. Jimmer was better.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostIn light of this conversation, it is funny that Miller was beaten out for POY by a sophomore, while Jimmer's main competition was another senior.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Except where you actually look at the draft and find out that in that period of time very few players actually skipped the draft and went to the NBA.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostFunk was just absolutely bitch slapped by that post. Never said none of them would have made a difference, but players were playing longer in college during that time. Vince Carter and Jameson (a team that Utah beat because of Miller's fantastic game against) were both juniors.Originally posted by cougjunkie View Post1995- Kevin Garnett

I doubt T-mac playing at UNC would have helped much.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostNever said none of them would have made a difference, but players were playing longer in college during that time. Kobe at Duke with Elton Brand, again I am sure Utah still cruises.*Banned*

Utah never played Duke. I guess if Kobe was at Duke with Elton Brand, Utah probably plays Duke instead of THEM in the finals.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostI doubt T-mac playing at UNC would have helped much.

T-Mac on UNC, absolutely makes them better, but that was already a stacked team that Utah beat.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

And with that I think we can put a cap on this thread and start the 2014-2015 thread."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault
"Once I seen the trades go down and the other guys signed elsewhere," he said, "I knew it was my time now." - Derrick Favors
