Indeed. The Flames had their best game of the year last night. The Oilers looked sloppy, but the Flames' passing and puck movement is improving. Maybe the new coach can help develop the young talent.

If Kipper can hold up under the schedule, the Flames could be a bubble team for the playoffs (again).

One of my favorite things about the NHL is the competitive parity. Even big market, dominant teams get knocked off their pins every few years. Compare the NHL with the total mess that has become college football, the BCS, and the SEC, and it's a wonder that there aren't more NHL fans.

      Well, OK, the lockouts...but still....

This Lightning-Flyers game is fun. TB pushes for a goal short-handed, give up a 4-on-1 the other way, and Lindback makes a great save.

And the TV contract after the first lockout.

But you're right, we've seen a variety of teams in the conference finals over the last few years. And teams are displaying an ability to rebuild over the course of 2-3 years.

            Another game, another Blackhawk victory.

Not surprisingly, the Blackhawks top ESPN's power rankings.

The Islanders are sticking it to Pittsburgh. The Islanders just seem like they "want it" more than do the Penguins.

My Lightning are "hot, hot, hot" right now. Scoring in bunches, but what I love that EVERYONE is scoring. THey have 13 players that have scored at least one goal. It isn't all just Marty and Stamkos.

Blackhawks starting a 6 game road trip tonight. If they get 8 points on the road trip, I will consider it a huge success. As long as they get 6 points on the trip, they will continue to prove that they are the top team in the NHL.

In the roadtrip is a game against Phoenix. That game makes me extremely nervous. Not because we are playing Phoenix, but because of Torres is likely to headhunt again. It may be necessary for the Blackhawks to make a preemptive strike and try to take him out. I don't condone headhunting, but since the NHL refuses to stop Torres it may be the only option.

I also demand that someone tries to drop the gloves with him the first time he steps on the ice and expose him as a pussy. He will run and hide when someone confronts him.

Phoenix is good at forcing it's style on other teams. The Coyotes aren't a high-skill team, but their persistance in style is a skill all its own.

Dave Tippett cannot get enough credit for the job he's done there.

Helluva game between Minnesota and Chicago tonight. Somebody finally beats the Hawks.

Tippett is a piece of shit for justifying torres hit on Hossa.

Chicago was due for a slip. It's rare for winning streaks to get up near 10 in the beginning of the season anyway.

The Flames need to stick it to lowly Colorado tonight. If they don't, they may not climb out of the slow start.

Parise makes a huge difference for the Wild. I thought the only time Chicago didn't dominate was when Parise was on the ice.
