      From Chad Ford's chat:

      Al (Portland, OR)

What's the highest Austin Rivers could go? Who might surprise and take him earlier than expected?
      Chad Ford (2:11 PM)

Highest? Some GMs LOVE him. Like Top 5 to 7 love him. Potential teams in the mid to late lottery to look at are: Blazers, Cavs, Jazz and Suns.
      Interesting

      Tom R (Mount Vernon, NY)

Which teams could you see selecting Perry Jones before Sullinger?
      Chad Ford (2:17 PM)

Tough one. Jones has way more upside. Sullinger should be a solid as a rebounder. Jones is the sort of player that can make you GM of the Year or get you fired. But at a certain point, the reward outweighs the risk for him. Personally, after the Top 5 guys were off the board, I'd grab him.
Me too, certainly at 8 or 9.

      Mike (Seattle)

With the North Carolina > Iona argument.....isnt North Carolina > Weber State also true?
      Chad Ford (2:23 PM)

Yes. But Damian Lillard was one of the five best players in the country this year. Ranked No. 2 in college PER. Teams scouted him pretty heavily this year. Most are comfortable that he's got a more complete game ... but not everyone. Some teams have Marshall ranked ahead of him. Really depends on what you want.
I'm having a hard time getting past the Weber State.
      Taylor (Rip City)

So coming back to the Lillard Marshall debate, Would Portland most likely prefer Lillard due to his abilities to score better than Marshall?
      Chad Ford (2:28 PM)

I think it's a debate. Very different players. Depends on your system and the personnel you have around them. I think Lillard would have the slight edge in Portland. But most teams really have them as 1a and 1b. I've had Lillard projected to the Jazz for a while, but starting to get the feeling Jazz may feel Marshall a better fit for their system.
Does that mean the Jazz just love, LOVE point guards who can't shoot? It seems to be true.

      Jeff (Toronto)

Knowing what you know now, where would Valanciunas rank in this draft?
      Chad Ford (2:44 PM)

      No. 2
With a good pick this year, Cleveland's future will be bright.

4.0 has been out for about a week (I missed it). Henson, Jones III and Beal moved up quite a bit. Miller from Baylor is now in the 1st Rd, Leslie from NC State drops out.

In terms of filling a need other than PG, if Doron Lamb is a late first, early second guy, I'm not sure there is a better value in the draft.
          I'm like LeBron James.

So what's the story with the Jazz-GS pick. GS is slotted at #6 right now but if someone jumps ahead into the top 3 GS is thrown back to #7? So there's a possibility this could turn into the best case scenario for the Jazz because they could end up with the best pick possible from the trade in one of the deepest drafts in years?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Yes, but off by one pick. GS currently #7 and the Jazz need one team 8-14 to jump into the top 3 in order to get the pick back.

Pretty much (they are slotted at 7 and Utah needs someone to push them to 8). However, the added dimension to the story is that Utah could have thrown a game to Golden State late in the season, and GS would currently be sitting in the 8 spot. Also, Golden State openly and unabashedly tanked the last week of the season to get into the top 7.

Top 6 protected in '13 and '14. After that it becomes two 2nd rounders.

I knew it converted to something ridiculous but was unsure when. I have a hard time believing GS will be top six next year.

Yeah, you have to think it will definitely come over in one of the next two years.

What GS did was shameful, it was an obvious tank job. What are the chances that a team from #8 through 14 jumps into the top 3? Doesn't it happen every other year?
