Tanking to ensure missing the playoffs in order to get the 8th pick is what is being encouraged. That's a dumb plan. I get all the smarter than the room guys know the best path to the Jazz being great is this magical pick, I'm sorry I'm not sold.

Nevermind that he can't defend an 8th pick from the last 5 years for this brilliant plan.

No it's not. What was being encouraged was losing one game to keep GS in the position to hand over the pick. Jazz don't have to ensure missing the playoffs for that pick to happen.

Then you'll have to forgive the people who would like to see GS cough up the pick even if it means an additional loss for the Jazz. Getting dusted in the playoffs by the Thunder and potentially creating a scenario where we collect two second rounders instead of a top 10 pick doesn't sound any more brilliant. I would hate to see us in the position of adding another Hayward/Burks level talent when we could instead collect two Goran Suton's. I definitely see the magic in that.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

McAdoo announces he's staying in school. I suspect a similar announcement is coming from C. Zeller soon if I didn't already miss it.

Perry Jones and Jared Sullinger are very happy men.

I can't? I didn't know I was supposed to try. Here you go:
2011: Brandon Knight. I'd take him.
2010: Hayward (9th) George (10th) any team would want either
2009: Demar Derozan (9th), Brandon Jennings (10th) both nice players and starters.
          2008: Brook Lopez (10th)
2007: Wright (8th) Noah (9th) Both starting centers on playoff teams.

So, I remain hopeful that at the 8th or 9th pick, the Jazz would have at least 2 good players to select from. Not to mention that we could pick out a couple more players in each draft in the middle of the round that turned out really well. Like I said, KOC has to do his job, but there will be an All-Star-ish level player available at 8. I'm pretty confident of that.

I already waived the white flag in the Jazz thread, I'd bet you lunch that whoever is taken with the 8th pick isn't an All-Star in the next 5 years but since you never even responded to my offer in the Disney Spring Break thread I don't think you'd take the bet.

The playoffs are dead, lose away Jazz.

I may have missed your previous offer in the other thread. I'll go and check it out. I agree that it is unlikely that the 8th pick will be an All-Star in 5 years. But I think this year there is a slightly better chance than in years past. for example, the "experts" last year were having a hard time projecting anyone as an all-star (I think most said Irving and that's it). Meanwhile, this year there are several that have the "talent" to be All Stars, if they can live up to it or who are flat out projected to be all-stars by some "experts" and who project to be available around the 8th pick. Perry Jones, Sullinger, Barnes, Lamb.

So I'll take your bet, even though I'm likely to lose and the all-star will end up being the 9th or 10th pick. You'll have to remember to remind me about this in 5 years.

Fab Melo has declared for the draft. He really hates class.

Jeff Withey or Fab Melo? I think I'd lean toward Withey at this point.

Has nothing to do with the color of their skin. It's mostly because I think Withey has a higher bball IQ, is more fundamentaly sound, a better outside shooter, is more articulate, and won't get into as much trouble off the court.

                          Jermaine Boyette? Ronnie Price?

Probably not simiilar, I just can't keep them out of my head since he played at Weber.

But you forgot that he is clearly a better teammate.

Also, better locker room presence, harder worker, has a better motor, and is scrappier.
