Teams have really gone heavy in the secondary in the first round. That's 8 players in the secondary taken so far. Maybe that always happens, but it just seems notable.

Niners end up with Jimmy Ward was a little disappointed they didn't move up for Dennard when he started to slide as I think he will be a physical starting corner for a long time in the league. Happy with the Ward pick though. I think he's a versatile guy who can cover and tackle. Reading through the articles, one thing that jumped out was the lack of any bad film. I like adding guys who are assignment sound and don't make mistakes (I sound like Bronco there, don't i?) but who can also be dynamic playmakers. Ward ran really well, and if he can come in day one and play nickel, and eventually take over at the safety spot next to Reid, I think this is a really good pick.Comment

The Lions take a tight end at no. 10 overall. The last top-ten pick used on a TE was Vernon Davis in 2006. This over any upgrades to their defensive secondary or even a solid o-lineman like Taylor Lewan out of Michigan. Also, they just extended Brandon Pettigrew and took Fauria in last year's draft.
Time will tell. Maybe he's the next Jimmy Graham after all.
