Sam's measurables aren't great, but he probably shouldn't have slipped past the 5th for a guy that was as productive as he was.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Is anyone else surprised Hoffman didn't get drafted? I thought he'd be like a fifth or sixth rounder.
I thought DSor had a good chance as well.

Production clearly doesn't matter to GMs. Sam's measurable and combine numbers were awful. He also had 9 of his sacks in 3 games against sub-par opponents. He went right where he should have.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View Post
If production matters Hoffman should have been drafted in round 4 or 5. The Bengals took some dude in round 7 with 20 career receptions and 0 tds.

Hoff had his fair share of question marks. Multiple suspensions, injuries and a tendency to disappear. He also had his share of drops. His combine was also disappointing. I think he's got a shot to make the Skins roster.Originally posted by cougjunkie View Post
I agree on Sam. Honestly, I had no idea who he was until he came out. He wasn't IMO a transcendent player, a good player but not really a star. I said as much when he came out, that I wondered if this wasn't something to give him some leverage publicly with his draft stock if/when he didn't get drafted to prep for a lawsuit. NFL teams were going to find out in the interview process, might as well get out ahead of it and try and position yourself for endorsements/recognition and have a card to play if you don't get drafted with below average measurables.Comment

Actually, I just took a look at Sam's performance at the combine and it was horrible, a 25 inch vertical, worst shuttle time and second slowest at the 40 among DBs. So, yeah, I could see why maybe he shouldn't have been drafted at all. Even after the program’s fall from top 25 grace over the last several years, it’s still surprising. Because 77 years is a long time. And it was the longest streak in the country.Several smaller schools — even one from Canada — had more players drafted than Texas. The list is as follows: Lindenwood, Pittsburg State, Bloomsburg (Penn.), McGill (Montreal), Maine, Concordia (St. Paul), Northwest Missouri State, Saginaw Valley and Princeton.
