The NFL has a new rule about forcing teams to be on Hard Knocks.

•Have a new head coach
•Have made the playoffs in the last two seasons
•Or, have been featured on "Hard Knocks" already within the last 10 years.

If you do not meet this criteria they can force you to participate.

If one of those teams 8 teams: (Steelers, Giants, Bills, Cardinals, Jaguars, Raiders, Rams, and Bears) drafts Michael Sam, I guarantee HBO picks them. It would do a lot of good for a team like Jacksonville or Oakland to get some publicity)

Jeff Fisher was on the Herd this morning and I turned off my car thinking that Hard Knocks to the Rams was a done deal. At least that's how I interpreted a comment he made in response to Collin.

Signing bonuses are typically the only portion of the contract that is guaranteed. However, a player isn't going to get a deal like that as an UDFA unless the team has legitimate interest in him. For reference, the rookie minimum is around $400k per year. So essentially they're paying him 20%-25% more than the rookie minimum if he makes it. You do that when you've got some competition to sign a guy, which was probably the case for Hoffman.

Yes, he has a lot of work left to do in order to make the team, but a deal like that gives him a leg up on other guys.

After Jackson, Garcon, and Roberts, the WR spots are pretty wide open (no pun intended). They have Leonard Hankerson, who has shown flashes, and Santana Moss, who I suspect won't make the roster. Beyond that, they drafted Ryan Grant from Tulane who is reported to have great hands. Other WRs on the roster are Aldrick Robinson, who can run one route, Nick Williams (Welker-esk from UCONN) and Adam Gettis from Baylor.

So yeah, I think he's got a good chance.

I think either of those would have been a better choice over Washington. Washington isn't loaded, but they they have more on board than Carolina and Cleveland.

The good news is that if he performs in the preseason, he'll either land with the Skins or catch on somewhere else. I doubt they'll be able to stash him on the practice squad.
