I didn't even notice it probably because it didn't matter. The Niners came out flat against both the Falcons and Ravens. They at least were given the chance to start competing because of the power outage and it was pretty clear who was better at the end. But the defense was terrible and the offensive play calling was spotty. There's lots of reasons for optimism on the offensive side of the balk, but the defense has looked bad since that New England game.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

That wasn't a big deal, because the call would have been a safety and no time would have been put back on the clock. It was actually a smart play by the guy from Baltimore because it allowed the punter to waste more time.

Which one. Ravens were straight tackling guys. LOL. It was a great play call. It was epitome of older brother outwitting little brother.

I for one am glad the refs sucked on their whistles instead of blowing them. Each no call brings Jim Harbaugh closer to killing someone on the sideline or having his head explode.

          • Shaka really likes to pull the "I know football because I played/coached" card, but the fact is, the ref didn't rule the ball uncatchable, so the point is moot. As far as the ref was concerned it was catchable. Also, Simms, who has played a little football, and who defended the non call vehemently, never went with the uncatchable defense.

Mike Pereira also tweeted out last night is was a good no-call.

Tough play that is real close both ways. Good job not calling anything.

But not because it was uncatchable. Simms, the ref on the play and now Pereira weighs in without going there.

The ref did what he's supposed to do. He waited, watched where the ball landed, confirmed with the back judge, and the didn't call a thing.

Also going back to my playing days I've thrown that exact pass many times. I'm not going to apologize for having years of experience playing, coaching, and officiating football. If you don't think that adds value to my takes then feel free not to read my posts.

As evidenced by that dime from Kapernick he dropped earlier in the game.

Playing, coaching, and officiating football is great and we appreciate your input.

Guessing whether or not a fade ball thrown a few feet out of bounds is catchable by an NFL WR is something we are all probably equally qualified to do.

Five feet. And no, I'd say that having stood under that play gives me insight you don't have. I know what's likely to happen when any receiver, even a tall NFL one with hops, goes up for a ball like that. He may catch it but he's going to land out of bounds. Most likely he's not even going to get a hand on it.

I'd say a former supervisor of officiating for the NFL and Rodney Harrison have some insight you don't have. I think Harrison has stood under that play a few times. But nice try.
