The Packers open up as a 2.5 point favorite. It's hard to argue with that, but I'm hoping since Pittsburgh has "been there and done that" they can overcome a really good Packers team.

I don't think "been there and done that" makes any bit of difference. The Saints beat the Colts who had been there. The Giants beat the Pats.

The Packers are a matchup a problem for anyone because they have Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams (spelling) on the outside and some great players that can bring pressure in the front 7. I think the Packers provided a blueprint for the Jets on how to beat the Pats because the the Packers almost beat them with a backup QB. The Jets also have two studs at corner but they can't bring the same presssure as the Jets can.

The difference between the Pack and the Jets is that the Packers have a top 3 QB, a more talented receiving corps and more competent coaches calling the plays. The Jets have a better o-line when healthy but they didn't have two starters by the end of the game.

I think teams can pass on the Steelers as the Pats showed. Running on them is a different story. The Steelers bring a lot of pressure and they count on getting to the QB before the QB can pick apart their secondary, it usually works until they go up against a QB like Brady.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I'm a lot more worried about the Packers offense than their defense. They have a really good QB and really good receivers. I think Pittsburgh can be thrown against, but they're nuts if they don't try to keep them honest. Rodgers won't make it out of the first half if they try to throw every down. I think Green Bay will be surprised that Pittsburgh will put more points on them than they are used to. Neither of Green Bay's corners will be able to keep up with Wallace, so they'll have to keep their safeties back. I think the Jets defense is better than the Packers. I see this being a 28-24 type of game with team that wins the turnover battle winning the game.

Aaron Rodgers is a really good QB, but let's not get crazy and compare him to Brady. He's not even in the ballpark yet.

Bullshit, Rodgers had the 3rd highest pass efficiency rating in the league this year. And he was killing everyone in the playoffs prior to the second half against the Bears.

I think Rodgers is very good, but I can think of at least 4 QB's I would rather have. Brady, Manning, Rivers, Brees, and a probably a healthy Roethlisberger. Can you imagine Brady running Green Bay's offense? This doesn't take anything away from Rodgers. He is really talented. He is certainly top 3 in the NFC, but not the NFL.

I'll admit I'm biased, and I'll give you Brady and Manning. I think Brees, Rivers and Rogers are at the same level. I'd take any of those three.

I could care less about this super bowl. The NFL just isn't as appealing to me as it once was. No doubt the absolute suckitude of my team has influenced that but the NFL just hasn't been must see TV for me. In fact I watched about 5 minutes total of the conference games yesterday. I suppose I'll watch the Super Bowl but only to participate in the event that it is.

Then you missed out. Both games had intrigue. In each game one team built a big lead, then the other came back and started to chip away. With 5 minutes left in each game, neither game was decided. Same at the 2 minute warning. That is great football right there.

I think Brady and Manning are clearly the top 2. If you're ranking them after those guys, I think he is absolutely in the discussion of the next core. If I were ranking them, I'd probably do it as follows:

                          Manning
                          Brady
                          Brees
                          Rodgers
                          Rivers
                          Roethlisberger

3-6 are all very close, and if Rodgers continues to improve, I could absolutely see him being considered in that top tier if he isn't already there.

I'll bet you didn't know that Aaron Rodgers has the highest career passer rating of ALL-TIME for the Regular Season? Second is Rivers and 3rd is Young. If he keeps that up over the course of his career (don't know why he can't) that is a huge accomplishment.

FWIW, here are the top ten highest career rated passers and their rating, through the 2010 season:

                          1) Rodgers 98.4
                          2) Rivers 97.2
                          3) Steve Young 96.8
                          4) Romo 95.5
                          5) Brady 95.2
                          6) Manning 94.9
                          7) Warner 93.7
                          8) Roethlisberger 92.5
                          9) Montana 92.3
                          10) Brees 91.7

Brees threw 22 interceptions this year. He was 12th in passing efficiency. True, Brees has had some great seasons, but this season wasn't one of them.

The only QBs that are head and shoulders above Rodgers are Brady and Manning. The point is arguable with a couple other QBs (Rivers). Roethlisberger has a 10-2 record in the playoffs so he's also in the discussion.

I'll also admit to being a little biased. Rodgers dropped in the first round due to how big of a bust Joey Harrington was. Rodgers was viewed as a system QB and lost a ton of money in the process. He also put up with Brett Favre's bullshit with a lot of class. By excelling at QB he vindicates Green Bay for kicking Favre to the curb.
