I know this is a ways off and the odds are still long, but how sweet would it be if Jimmer became a Seattle Supersonic?!

I would love to see the return of the Sonics, not only because Seattle should have an NBA team but it will really piss off SeattleUte.

I'm remaining cautiously optimistic because there's still a long way to go for a team to get here, but there's more reason to believe now than there has been the last four years.

What I don't get is the NBA and NHL is coming here. Five professional sports team is a lot to support for a city as small as ours, especially when you factor in how big a draw both Husky football and hoops are. I just don't know that we have the population base for all of that.

A wealthy San Francisco hedge-fund manager and officials in the Seattle mayor's office have been working behind the scenes for eight months to bring an NBA team back to the city as early as next fall and build a new arena, according to emails and documents that reveal a far more concerted effort than previously known.

A Dec. 13 agenda for a meeting between the parties shows they were talking about details such as a "Review of Basic Deal Structure," "Financing Issues," including "City Debt Capacity," and "Security for Public Financing."

The documents, released Friday to The Seattle Times under a public-disclosure request, also provide the first glimpse of how the largely unknown hedge-fund manager, 44-year-old Seattle native Christopher Hansen, approached the city about his desire to buy an NBA team and build an arena south of Safeco Field.

The article doesn't mention it, but Hansen has also already met with Stern. He has another investor who wants to bring the NHL to Seattle willing to partner with him on a mixed-used facility, and the Coyotes may reportedly be up for grabs. They've already purchased their first plot of land in SODO, and the thinking is that they wouldn't have grabbed the one if they didn't have more already lined up.

It's not terribly close to being a reality right now, but a third stadium down there, in addition to the massive retail/commercial/residential project that just broke ground next to Century Link, would make for a really awesome Stadium District.

I hate Keith Smart. Jimmer was a +12, while Tyreke and Thornton were -10 and -13 respectively. It's as if he were trying to lose that game.
