Ridiculous point guard play so far this season. Drum up the old stand-by comment by any NBA announcer when two of these guys play in the same game..."there are no off-nights for point guards in the NBA anymore."

(Not listing them in any particular order, other than the order they're listed in)

    Chris Paul - 17.9 ppg, 9.9 apg, 5.3 rpg, 2.43 spg, 51% FG, 45% 3's, 89% FT

No matter how good anyone else has been, I don't think any other PG has touched Paul yet this year. The way they run their offense with him certainly contributes to his big numbers, but the fact that he can handle the ball that much and only average 1 TO/game and shoot the percentages he has is incredible.

    Deron Williams - 21.5 ppg, 10.3 apg, 5.1 rpg, 45% FGs, 36% 3's, 84% FTs

His FT shooting is up, his rebounding is up, but he's got to control the turnovers (4/game). He's been at 50% from the field after the first 2 games. His assist numbers would be huge if he had any back court help that could shoot.

    Derrick Rose - 23.8 ppg, 9.2 apg, 3.8 rpg, 44% FGs, 27% 3's, 75% FTs

Still getting it done w/very little front court offensive help. Once Boozer gets healthy Rose will be one of the 5 toughest guards to stop in the league.

    John Wall - 19.3 ppg, 10.2 apg, 4.3 rpg, 3.17 spg, 44% FGs, 36% 3's, 77% FTs

Durant was really good rookie after one year of college. Wall's do it everything year so far is making Durant look like Glenn Robinson.

    Rajon Rondo - 11.1 ppg, 14.8 apg, 5.5 rpg, 3.13 spg, 47% FGs, 53% FTs

Didn't list 3-pointers because he's only taken 5 attempts. How good could he be if he could just shoot FTs, let alone an 18 foot jumper? He's only on pace to break the NBA record for assists in a game while also being the best defensive PG.

    Russell Westbrook - 22.6 ppg, 7.9 apg, 6.3 rpg, 2.14 spg, 44% FGs, 90% FTs

Has there ever been a top 3 talent in the NBA that wasn't the most important player on the team? Is that what we have with Durant playing on Westbrook's team? 22/7/6 from a PG with his defense and being able to hit 90% FTs?

    Steph Curry - 21.7 ppg, 6.3 apg, 3.3 rpg, 1.83 spg, 52% FGs, 38% 3's, 89% FTs

Looking more and more like a point guard and less like Monta Ellis. He reminds me of Brandon Roy at the end of games, where I kind of don't expect him to be as good as he is but at the same time feel like he's going to score each time he touches it.

And even after listing those guys, that is leaving out Nash's 19 and 9 and absurd shooting yet again, Jason Kidd still being at 11 apg, Jrue Holiday going for 19 and 9 and making half of his 3's in November, and Tony Parker looking young again...and the new "point guard" on the block. When the year's over, are we going to think LeBron looks better emulating Magic Johnson or Michael Jordan?
4 of the top 5 in NBA.com's MVP rankings are PG's right now.

I still like Lebron, Wade, Bosh and Co. at least to come out of the Eastern Conference and 50/50 to win the whole thing.

Agreed. It is a bit premature to write them off 9 games into the season. There is no doubt that most figured them to come out of the gates like a raped ape. I think that you will see this team settle in to it's full stride sometime around the beginning of January and be rolling with a great ammount of momentum come the spring. This is a brand new team. Chemistry takes time.

      • Something is seriously wrong with Brandon Roy. 2 points, 20 minutes, 1-7 shooting, and didn't shoot a single FT. On the plus side, Nic Batum is showing that he has a lot of talent. Right now, it is a toss up whether Batum or Miller is the best player on the Blazers.

Yeah, having no meniscus left in a knee is definitely something wrong. Sucks when the doc says, "Hey, I think we need to go in and repair your meniscus", but after they check out the knee closer the doc says, "Um, nevermind. You don't have any meniscus left. Enjoy your career."

Not good for Blazer fans to hear Roy say, "This is just something I'll have to play through the rest of my career."

It is a damn shame, because Roy is a fantastic basketball player and one of the good guys in the NBA. I'm not sure we will ever see the real Brandon Roy again.

Bryant was right that he had no weakness in his game, but it looks like he is just a jump shooter now. Damn shame as he was great to watch. The Matthews signing makes a lot more sense these days. Problem is Wes Matthews sucks now.

            • This was always a distinct possibility with Roy. Sucks that it's happening.

If this wasn't a possibility, he wouldn't be in a Blazers uniform. He would have been the unquestioned first pick in the draft if teams weren't scared of his knee problems. Of course, we don't have Roy we may have drafted Durrant instead of Oden.

In a lot of ways now that things have settled down, I understand the Pritchard firing. You look at the team and there are so many flaws and so many missed opportunities that a change was understandable. His failure to trade RLEC, and his drafting Oden over Durant. Add in ridiculously overvaluing his own assets by refusing to trade Webster for Devin Harris (assuming the rumor was true) or refusing to part with Rudy Fernandez to make the VC for RLEC deal go through. These missteps are magnified when you consider the fact that you knew that Roy's knee was a ticking time bomb.

                • Portland, Minnesota, and Utah have all played 7 road games, most in the NBA.

Chicago has played the fewest with 2. Orlando, LAL, NO, and Dallas next fewest at 3.

Boston's two losses were both the back end of a back-to-back.

                    • The Hawks turned down an offer of Jason Thompson for Jeff Teague? Seriously?!

I know Thompson has gotten lost in the Demarcus Cousins/Sam Dalembert shuffle in Sactown, with the Kings coaches trying to get Thompson to be a SF, but he's 6'11" and has averaged double-digit points each of the last two years and was at 8.5 rpg last season in just over 30 mpg. Meanwhile, Teague is only one year younger and is averaging 4 and 2 this year in 15 minutes.

Yeah, that surprised me when I read The Dime this morning. It makes me a bit ill to think we maybe could have traded Mainor for him and not just for cap space. Can you imagine having Memo/Thompson coming off the bench to spell Millsap/Al?

Wait a second. I thought the company line was that every GM in the league would have drafted Oden. Sounds like a little revisionist history.

But, the absolute worst draft move was taking Webster over Deron or CP3 just because they had Telfair.

With Tomic joining next year, allowing them to move Memo's then expiring contracts for back court help.

I think your dispute over that one is with John Nash, not Kevin Pritchard. While Pritchard was in the Portland organization, he did not make that draft pick and actually pushed for the team to draft CP3.
