I love the MLB playoffs -- nothing cooler than a starter like Lincecum coming out of the pen to close out a game.

Yeah, poor guy, gonna get paid $100 million over the next 5 years.Originally posted by creekster View PostMe too. ANd strike three looking. Poor Howard, what a lousy series. But Go Giants!

Howard has been brutal since the all star break. He looked to wait for Wilson to walk him instead of making a play himself.Originally posted by creekster View PostMe too. ANd strike three looking. Poor Howard, what a lousy series. But Go Giants!
Congrats to the Giants. They get it done with their 3 stud pitchers and can grind it out with their lineup.
Who woulda thunk a Giants - Rangers Series?

Agreed, at the beginning of the season, no one would have guessed this. But I'll take it. I don't have great expectations for the WS, I'm just happy that we made it this far.Originally posted by Bastage View PostHoward has been brutal since the all star break. This Giants team is the antithesis of all the great Giants team in my lifetime. The other pennant winning teams had multiple MVP worthy batters, players like Bonds, Kent, Williams, Clark, Leonard, Mitchell etc. This team is built to grind, just as you say. Aces and relievers with a crazy, and crazy good closer. It's great to watch.Originally posted by Bastage View PostHoward has been brutal since the all star break. Like so much of the season, tonight was rough but ultimately very satisfying. Affeldt looked better tonight than I'd seen him all season. And how cool that Uribe drives in the winning run in the last two Giant wins.
It's also nice the NL won the All Star game for the first time since the Eisenhower administration or so, as the Giants get to face Lee in their yard.

When McCann hit that double, I seriously had a feeling that it'd benefit the Giants someday, and it did.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostLike so much of the season, tonight was rough but ultimately very satisfying. Talented, but a little crazy. He's like the Brian Wilson of baseball.Originally posted by 8BR View PostThis Giants team is the antithesis of all the great Giants team in my lifetime. Wednesday. We're due for an earthquake, although that would be very problematic as a lot of the players live in the very unstable Marina.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostDoes the WS start today?

I secretly look forward to the next quake (assuming no one is seriously hurt) as I think they're kind of fun.
