If they shortened the season they could be done by now, plus they wouldn't interfere with football or The Simpson's Tree House of Horror episode. Win-win-win!

They're starting in March next year so that the season will end in October.

The 89 quake was very memorable. I was living in the marina and owrking in SF at the time. I wlaked home becaseu it was alovely evening and the buses weren't running. As I crested the hill on Uniuon street I saw the big fire in the marina which was only a block from where I lived but at the distance looked ot be right where I lived. I wont bother to type out the whole story, but I will say that a nother guy from our building and I (thankfully my wife and then only child were out of town at the time) spent the evening pulling people out of Marina buildings and watching liquified soil erupt liek geysers through cracked pavement in the marina.

The quake was very memeorable, btu I will be fine if I never see another one like that in my life. I would also never, and I mean NEVER, live in the marina district again.

Now that's an impressive story. I chose to live on Russian Hill for that very reason, even though I know they've retrofitted a lot of those buildings. Hopefully we just get a bunch of small ones and never one big one.

Jose Uribe is, I believe, dead.

Yep, Jose is dead. I believe he died in a car accident.

I also remember his wife passing away while giving birth to their first child. That was shortly followed by Dave Dravecky and his cancer. The city really rallied around both of those guys.

So much history can you believe back in 1993 they were hours from moving to St. Petersburg.

My experience was less dramatic. We were in Fairfield at the time. I was 15 at the time, leaning back in the chair at my desk in my bedroom waiting for the game to start. Next thing I know I was knocked flat on my back. I jumped up, not knowing what the heck had just happened. It me about 2 seconds to register my mom's screeching yells at us to head for cover. Book shelf fell over, and there were a few broken glasses and dishes, but overall we escaped with minimal damage.

It occurs to me that I can name the starting lineup, most of the pitching staff, and a few bench players from the 1962 Giants, and would score better on such a test than with the '89 (your useful cheat sheet notwithstanding) or '02 Series teams. It's interesting the effect baseball has on us in our formative years (I was 10 in '62). I can recall nearly every game from that series, even the frustration of a rain delay and, of course, the incredible heartache of the Series' final out. Game 1 tonight, Cliff v. Tim.

Either team can easily win each night, so it's hard to predict, but I'll say Giants win games 2, 4 and 6. Game 7 would be the decider and I have to pick the Giants since they're my team.

Although everyone has Lee winning game one, it is interesting how well the Giants have played against good pitchers, for the most part. They lost the second battle with Halladay, but beat him in AT&T twice this year. They also beat Wainwright, rocked Jimenez, and Mat Latos a couple times I think.

I can't wait to see Molina hit a grounder with a runner on and know Sanchez can tag second, take a nap, and then throw out Bengie at first.

Wow, if you would've told me the Rangers would put up 7 runs with Lee pitching, I would've assumed a 7-2 loss. Well done Sanchez and Uribe, way to come up big against Lee. Unless he pitches a shutout in 4 or 5, he just lost at least a few millions dollars in his next contract.

A strange but very nice game. I liked McCarver's (or was it Buck's?) comment that "If someone had told Lincecum before the game that he'd go 0-for-2 in the fifth inning, I'm sure he would have been fine with that."

And I like how Sanchez, Huff, Ross and Uribe have become a kind of post-season Murderers Row.

That was really awkward, not sure what he was thinking. Luckily, it didn't cost him. Hopefully Giants can keep this going tomorrow, and I hope Guerrero is playing d in right field again, wow.

Guerrero looked like my grandpa running out there. I wonder if his knees can bend more than 35 degrees
