Howard has been brutal since the all star break. He looked to wait for Wilson to walk him instead of making a play himself.

Agreed, at the beginning of the season, no one would have guessed this. But I'll take it. I don't have great expectations for the WS, I'm just happy that we made it this far.

This Giants team is the antithesis of all the great Giants team in my lifetime. The other pennant winning teams had multiple MVP worthy batters, players like Bonds, Kent, Williams, Clark, Leonard, Mitchell etc. This team is built to grind, just as you say. Aces and relievers with a crazy, and crazy good closer. It's great to watch.

Like so much of the season, tonight was rough but ultimately very satisfying. Affeldt looked better tonight than I'd seen him all season. And how cool that Uribe drives in the winning run in the last two Giant wins.

It's also nice the NL won the All Star game for the first time since the Eisenhower administration or so, as the Giants get to face Lee in their yard.

Wednesday. We're due for an earthquake, although that would be very problematic as a lot of the players live in the very unstable Marina.

I secretly look forward to the next quake (assuming no one is seriously hurt) as I think they're kind of fun.
