Wow can NY even make this a series?

Edit: doubtful the yanks win this game but the bats are waking up.

Another edit: with relief pitching like this, NY could come back.

Too little, too late. Boone had his one good managing game of the year his career vs the redsocks. Don't expect another one this year especially.

Did not know what a wheel play was. That was a pretty sweet play.

That 9th inning was agonizing. Doc going away from the gameplan and throwing Treinen in to close was absolute madness. Treinen has been awful this year: he averages 2 base runners per inning. That's an average. In a leverage situation, that average isn't going to improve. Yes, Treinen threw some big innings for the Dodgers last postseason. This isn't last postseason. He has been legitimately terrible this year. 20% of the time his stuff is wicked and he can throw it for strikes. 80% of the time he is wild, and ends up behind in the count and grooving 93mph fastballs because he has to throw a strike. You can get away with that sometimes against bad teams, but there are no bad teams left in the playoffs.

In my opinion, if Treinen and Tanner Scott are going to be on the postseason roster, they are both subject to the rule of 8s: They can come in under the following scenarios: 1) Dodgers are down by 8 or more, or 2) Dodgers are up by at least 8 and it's the 8th inning or later. Legitimately, we should not see Treinen or Scott in any other situation for the remainder of this postseason.

All that said, the wheel play was amazing, and saved the game.

That's a heartbreaking way to lose that game. Pitcher just panicked.

It looked like the Dodgers dugout was watching first base to see whether the throw would get there and then realized the pitcher was going home. Tough to be that guy tonight.

The Dodgers must feel pretty good about Sasaki right now.

Sasaki is lights out right now. Ohtani struggled at bat this series a bit. They were lucky to get out of this game.

like getting pants'd in an 80s teen comedy right when you are trying to ask the Cindy Mancini to dance at the final dance of the year.

Also, by way of announcement (since no one here seems to have known), the CUBS won again. Cubs pitchers were lights out.

14 innings. So many runners left on base.

That’s gotta go down as one of the best playoff games. Pitching was great on both teams. Both teams had so many chances to win yet either a great defensive play or an awesome pitch retired the inning. I doubt the Mariners have much of a chance with the Jays, but maybe now is when Raleigh starts getting hot.

Outside of Judge, not many of the heavy hitters of the regular season have shown up in the playoffs.

I am very surprised that Seattle has pitched well enough to keep the Jays bats relatively quiet. They have to break out at some point don’t they? I mean they are carrying the hopes and dreams of all Canadians!
