Although, as a Laker hater.. I thoroughly enjoyed that game.. Do I think it was fixed?? It is hard not to think that with Kobe in foul trouble (From a Laker lover's perspective). But other times I am disgusted with how much Kobe gets away with as well. So In my mind they were actually making calls against him that should ALWAYS be called but because it is Kobe he gets away with it. Now, do I think his foul trouble cost them the game. Nope.. Putting fisher on Ray Allen was the reason, and Allen going batty from the 3 point line proves that...

Here's hoping the same Boston team that discarded the Cavs so easily after a similar series shows up...

Did you actually watch the game? I don't care who you are 2 of his fouls were not fouls. That being said, bad calls happen and are not the reason the Lakers lost yesterday. The Lakers lost because Ray was lights out in the first half and Rajon was money in the 4th quarter. Pretty simple.

How do you let Ray Ray go off like that? Even Boozer can guard him.

Bad calls get called.. Kobe for this first time hmmm.. EVER... was the recipient of a few bad calls.. In most cases he is awarded with those ghost calls.. I have no sympathy for Kobe or the fact he got two bad calls.. It doesn't even make up the bad calls that have been made in his favor so the refs have LONG way to go to get that even..

Working. Something you might not never know about.

What a horrible game. Two horrible games. The officiating has been terrible. Both crews have been hypersensitive. 112 fouls called in two games in just 96 minutes of play. Utter garbage. It's killed the flow of these two games. Last night's game lasted almost 3 hours.

The difference in this game was the three point shooting of the Celtics. Allen killed them. And then with foul trouble plaguing Kobe he couldn't play much defense on either Jesus Shuttlesworth or Rondo and they closed out the game. That's one of the first times I have seen Rondo stay aggressive at the end when it mattered. I guess it was more important to try and get Kobe out of the game then be a liability at the line. It'd be really nice if the Lakers could box him out.

The Lakers had their chances late. But I think what turned it was the bad call out of bounds on Gasol. What's the point of replay when you still get the call wrong? If the Lakers get the ball there and score it's a one possession game. Instead the Celtics score and pushed their lead to 7 I think. That's when the door started to close. It shut when Kobe got the ball poked away by Rondo when he was pulling up for 3 down 6 with 40 seconds left.

Still, only Artest was really awful with his 1-10. The Celtics have no answer for Gasol or Bynum and I was encouraged by Bynum's play and the minutes he logged. He had to because LO picked up 3 fouls in 3 minutes. LO has given the Lakers zippy in two games. Gasol at this point is MVP of the series. He's making KG look really old.

I don't know why Pierce was bumping his gums. He's done jack in two games and matched Artest's awful play yesterday. It'd be kind of funny if the Lakers swept all three in Boston so his "We ain't coming back to LA" smack comes true. I doubt it. I think the Lakers can win 2 of 3. But they have to take game 3 tomorrow. That crowd will be rocking and hostile. I hope the Lakers pack their own food. Hopefully the refs swallow their whistles some and let these guys play "playoff" basketball. Should be a fun game.

This is completely false. As any Laker fan knows there are a dozen or more calls per game that Kobe arguably deserves but does not get. You dislike the Lakers and Kobe so you see the calls for which he gets the benefit of the doubt.

Players like Kobe (and this includes LaBron and others) have the ball in their hands much of the game and put themselves in a position where the ref has a difficult decision of whether to call something or not more than your average NBA player. Sometimes they get the call and sometimes they don't. Fans of their respective teams see what they want to see. The truth is that Kobe has plenty of bad calls go against him and also has plenty of bad calls go for him. Over time it balances out and occasionally there is a game where calls don't go his way and sometimes they balance out and do go his way. However, most of the time the calls are pretty accurate because he is one of the most difficult people to guard in the league without fouling. (same goes for LaBron and others)

Coming from a Laker fan I expect this type of argument. It's all good. As a Laker hater I see it differently.. And as a Laker fan you definitely see it as Kobe should get more fouls... I find that laughable.. But it is still funny to read that statement with such conviction..

PS: I fixed that for ya.. It's not LaBron...

Why does Kobe get more calls? Maybe it is because he is difficult to guard? Why does LeBron get more calls? Maybe because he is difficult to guard? Why is this hard for you to understand? Some of the calls that these guys get are good and some are bad. Do you dispute any of these points?

The Lakers shot 15 more FTs than the Celtics in Game 2. If the refs wanted to fix the game, they sure did a lousy job. The foul called on Kobe when Rondo was falling out of bounds was horrible. But so were the calls on Big Baby and Pierce when they blocked Bynum and Artest respectively. Kobe obviously is the more important player, but the dirty little secret in last night's game was that the Lakers lost because they weren't feeding the ball to Gasol and Bynum in the fourth quarter- why does that seem to happen? One of the primary reasons why the Lakers lost to the Celtics in 2008 was that Kobe stunk up the joint. The biggest mismatch the Lakers can exploit is the height and post superiority of Gasol and Bynum and they were destroying the Celtics in the 3rd quarter last night. The Celtics limited LeBron and they can limit Kobe just like they did in 2008. But they have a much more difficult time with Bynum and Gasol (and Bynum wasn't available for the 2008 Finals).

Overall, the refs have been lousy. Joey Crawford is a shitty ref. He's not inconsistent like Salvatore and Baveta, but he destroys most of the games he refs with ticky-tack horseshit. What's funny is that you almost never hear about shitty reffing during the NCAA tournament, yet it's a constant lament during every NBA postseason. Stern just continues to whistle past the graveyard while the zombies are out in full force. True, the NBA game is more physical than the college game and the players are bigger, stronger and faster. That just means you have to ref the games different. And it would also help if you didn't routinely have guys in the mid to late 60s reffing critical games.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Spot on, except that Allen did his damage in the first half and not the end of the game. And the rest of your prediction was a little, off.
