Yeah it kind of sucks. I was hoping he'd come down to Potomac which is just about 25 minutes from me. Guess I'll wait until he gets called up to watch him in person.

I wish I had seen this earlier, as I just want to note that starting pitchers are usually whiny little wimps. I say usually when referring to the rotation of the other team. I remember a few years ago Curt Schilling was all butt sore about some Padres player that didn't just give up in one of the later innings so Schilling could have a no-hitter or perfect game."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

Great SI article on Harper this week. It's kind of an apologetic piece and gives context for some of his antics that critics have railed on him for like blowing the kiss to the pitcher.
Also, in his first game at AA they said the first 3 pitches were at his head. Sounds like he's not going to make call-ups next month but finish out at AA and start off in spring training and then AAA next year before getting called up if he continues to progress as he has.

The Nats recently signed Harper's brother, which I thought was interesting.Originally posted by Surfah View PostGreat SI article on Harper this week. It's kind of an apologetic piece and gives context for some of his antics that critics have railed on him for like blowing the kiss to the pitcher.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Fun article. I love this quote about the guy throwing straight 3 pitches at his head (after Harper went from 1st to 3rd on a ball chopped to the SS, his team leading 8-0)...Originally posted by Surfah View PostGreat SI article on Harper this week. If I was pitching, I probably would have done the same thing," says Harper. "A kid going first to third with the score eight-nothing? If I was up on the bump, I would buzz the tower too."I'm like LeBron James.

I enjoyed that article as well. Harper is really struggling in AA right now. He is only hitting .238 with 1 hr and 5 rbis in 23 games.Originally posted by Surfah View PostGreat SI article on Harper this week. Wale's tour bus was in Portland last weekend. I should have left a note on the door requesting a name drop, as well.Originally posted by cougjunkie View Post

It's clear that Bryce has been too enabled by others due to his athletic abilities. Hopefully he can mature quickly before he self-destructs.
