    Without a doubt the Giants pitching was insanely good in the post-season, but we are looking at a small sample size issue and it shouldn't have any bearing on the Cy Young award. I think you agree with this since you are giving the Cy Young to other pitchers.

    Since we are talking sample size, I think with Lincecum his great post-season was more of an indication of his quality as a pitcher than his struggles during the regular season. He has a long track record of success and I expect him to be right back in the NL Cy Young hunt next year.

    AL Cy Young - Felix Hernandez
    NL Cy Young - Roy Halladay

    I can certainly respect people who vote for Wainwright, but I'll go with Halladay as he had a better ERA+, WHIP, and better SO/BB ratio. He also had lower BB/9 than Wainwright so he seemed to have better control. On the other hand, Wainwright had better K/9 and HR/9 than Halladay which evens the 2 up a little bit.

    It will be very interesting to see if Hernandez ends up winning the Cy Young, because the Neyer/James Cy Young predictor is not high on his chances. He is currently 6th in their predictor. I'm sure both would vote for Felix, but history is not favorable to his chances. I expect Sabathia to win it.

        Question for the gallery - Did Kershaw win the NL Cy Young last night?

        Plus

        first Dodger Pitcher since Ramon Martinez to win 20 games

        has all the stats - ERA, innings pitched, strike outs etc

        beat Lincecum 4 times this year

        Minus

        Pitches for a 500 ball club - which is a whole lot better than a 10 games below 500 ball club he was pitching for a month ago

        They were talking on MLB TV like he did

        I don't follow the AL that closely but I would guess Verlander has the it sewn up over there

                Not only that he should win the MVP. Verlander has probably had the best season as a starting pitcher since pedro in 99.

                Basically, the Tigers give up five runs per start unless Verlander is pitching. They're 24-8 when he starts and 54-54 when he doesn't. Fifteen times, he's followed a Tigers loss by winning the next game. He's pitched at least six innings in each of his starts. He's thrown 104 pitches or more in every start. He's first in wins, WHIP, strikeouts, innings pitched; second in ERA (trailing Jered Weaver by just 0.10)

                    That was the main minus for Kershaw, because the Dodgers have been so bad this year, he hasn't had a chance to pitch in games that matter.

                        Not only that, but he has had the best season for a Tiger pitcher since Denny McClain in '68 and with current practice no one will ever come close to that.

                            His wins against the giants are less impressive because the giants wound up stinking this season. He went 5-0 against SF and 4-0 against lincecum, but the giants are only a few games above .500 as well.

                            Oh well.

                                It's amazing that the dodgers might have the Cy Young and MVP winner on their team yet can barely get above 500. I'd guess tha Kennedy takes it based on the reasons noted but wouldn't surprise me either way.

                                    Doesn't matter, in this era. Kershaw has 50 more SO, .6 better ERA and more IP. He'll win it.

                                    Felix won it last year on one of the worst teams in the AL.

                                    Last night's game was basically a playoff game and he put the screws (once again) to a team with an eight game win streak and the best OBP, in Sept, in the majors.
