I think one day we might hear KOC say his biggest mistake was wasting the 3rd overall draft pick on Hoffa jr.I'm like LeBron James.

Enes with a nice jump hook over Plumlee after receiving the ball in front of the rim, then a turnover passing out of the post (6 turnovers), followed by a lay-up on the break.
10 points, 11 rebounds, 6 TOs so far.

I can't believe Jazz fans are already doing this again not even two seasons removed from Hayward.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI think one day we might hear KOC say his biggest mistake was wasting the 3rd overall draft pick on Hoffa jr.
I said this the other day, but it always amazes me that people can watch young players year after year and still act like it's their first time.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I just worry about Kanter. I've worried since he was drafted and he hasn't done anything to change that. While my words may have made it seem so, I'm not making a judgment. I said earlier in the thread, I don't have a clue about him and that hasn't changed. But yes, I worry about him as a prospect.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI can't believe Jazz fans are already doing this again not even two seasons removed from Hayward.

btw, I read a quote the other day where KOC has made an addendum to his biggest mistakes file (and I'm not sure if the quote was real since I didn't see a link or anything). He used to say it was letting Mo walk, but now he says it was letting Miller talk him into a max deal for AK. I don't think he'll ever top that one.So Russell...what do you love about music? You want to know what I don't get, this is what I don't get. PER's of the young 4 by rookie season:Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI just worry about Kanter. Kanter - 14.52
Burks - 14.01
Favors - 13.90
Hayward - 10.73
What the hell are people freaking out about? He's not having an awesome summer? So what. For all intents and purposes, he had the most productive rookie season of any of the young 4, yet now people are acting like he's a Hoff-sized bust (who, btw, never had a PER in double-digits any of his years in the NBA) because of a couple summer league games where he's out of shape? Yeah, I don't get it. I was pretty defensive about Hawyard, and not because I thought he was playing well, but because I thought he had some obvious talent and just needed a chance. But I could see why people were getting worked up about him, because his production was not very good (he spend most of his rookie campaign with a PER around 9). I just don't see the same in Kanter. For most of his rookie season, he was trending around 16-17 (which is very good), and just started to fade in the second half (which was understandable).
Do I think he's going to be a star? Probably not. But all the people starting to cry bust I just don't understand at all. He's played one year, and it's wasn't even close to being a bad one.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Throwing LHM under the bus? And that was after sitting on his thumbs for a year at Kentucky and not playing competitive basketball.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostDo I think he's going to be a star? Probably not. I am still excited about Kanter. He makes some terrible plays with passing and his footwork and then he makes some fabulous moves around the hoop. He just needs time. We know that he is a good rebounder and that is a great foundation to build on.
If he can come out and play 25-30 minutes a game in the next couple of years and get 12-14ppg and 10 boards, I would be thrilled and I think that is entirely possible for him. I have no idea if he will be an all star (and ideally, you would like to get an all star with the #3 pick) but if he could put up those numbers and have a couple of other terrific players leading the way, I would be fine.

Yeah, I'm not sure I do either. There was talk at the time of the contract that KOC was opposed to it and Miller pushed him on it, but I'm guessing someone just made up the quote as a joke. Though I would list it as the biggest FO mistake in recent memory.Originally posted by Jacob View PostThrowing LHM under the bus? I think you're getting worked up over nothing. I've admitted and will do so again, I don't pretend to have a clue about Kanter as a prospect. Am I optimistic? No. Regardless of what his PER was his rookie year, I see a guy who lacks in game athleticism and who plays extremely short out on the court. So yes, I worry about him. Am I making a judgment on a 20 year old who didn't really play competitive basketball before last year? Not at all.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostYou want to know what I don't get, this is what I don't get. PER's of the young 4 by rookie season:

It is always funny to see. Fans talk about giving a kid time to get better and then when he plays bad early on, they turn on him like nobody's business.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostYou want to know what I don't get, this is what I don't get. PER's of the young 4 by rookie season:

He is 20 years old. Lets let him grow up before we call someone a bust.

I'm getting generally worked up because I feel like this is all I've been reading about on the Jazz boards and cougarboard lately. This was finally just my outlet.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI think you're getting worked up over nothing.
This type of comment doesn't make sense to me and never will. Why would you dismiss production simply because of what it looks like? Production is production. CJ's gorgeous shot doesn't make him a better shooter than Kevin Martin's ugly mechanics make him.Regardless of what his PER was his rookie year, I see a guy who lacks in game athleticism and who plays extremely short out on the court. So Russell...what do you love about music? Since I started this whole thing, I will just clarify. My worry about Kanter has nothing to do with how he has played in his rookie year, the Euro tournament last year (when he played very well) or summer league (where he has had some good moments as well). IOW, I think he has played pretty well in his limited opportunities. What worries me about him is that he seems slow, lacks explosion, and plays short. Does that mean he's a bust? No, but those are the main reasons I worry about him perhaps being a bust.Originally posted by UteStar View PostIt is always funny to see.
