As a fan, easy decision but remember; they get hazzard pay in the playoffs and have reason to want to keep playing."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

We still probably wont make the playoffs.Originally posted by Hsaru View PostDo you really see a benefit in getting swept in the 1st round over getting a player like Kendall Marshall? Don't know how any Jazz fans can't see the pick is much bigger in the long run.
Potential starting pg
OR
Swept by OKC in the 1st round
Real tough decision. LOSE LOSE LOSE.

I'm not that big on Marshall, but yeah, I'd like to see us with a pick. That said, in the moment I can't get myself to want anything other than a win. It's a confusing situation to be in.Originally posted by Hsaru View PostDo you really see a benefit in getting swept in the 1st round over getting a player like Kendall Marshall? So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I still see the Jazz losing another game or two (I don't think we beat @Portland), but the playoff experience is still invaluable to Corbin, Hayward, Favors, and even though they are still role players off the bench, Kanter and Burks.
You really think these players really give a crap about Kendall Marshall during a stretch to make the playoffs?Originally posted by Hsaru View PostTeam is awfully excited at the opportunity to deprive themselves of getting Kendall Marshall on the team so they can get swept by OKC.
I mean I get we could use another pick but we have some nice cap flexibility and Millsap with a nice contract to trade or get a PG.Last edited by UtahJazzFan88; 04-16-2012, 10:19 PM.

You assume the Jazz will actually do something during the summer

The game plan against Hayward appears to be pretty consistent across the board with most teams: play physical, try to get in his head. Has there been anything in his history with the Jazz that shows that is a wise strategy? Did teams think they should try it after DWill through that pass really hard at him and Hayward didn't throw it back? Or is it just because Hayward is so pasty that they think he isn't tough?
I went to the Denver game when Afflalo got tossed. Everyone was going at Hayward. He got harder picks set on him, his individual defender was pushing and grabbing and swatting at him more, and then off course he ended up getting an elbow to the head.
On kind of a similar note, when Dirk bowled over Favors last night and Favors got whistled for the foul, some local media started tweeting about how Favors needed to get in Dirk's face to show he wouldn't be intimidated. While I agree to some extent, Favors was doing his job by not backing down during play, just as Hayward generally seems unaffected by a team's strategy to go after him. What I think is clearly lacking on this team is the veteran bigs doing anything to send messages that their team won't be intimidated. Watson would do that. Bell and Howard would probably do it. But Jefferson and Millsap act like they're unaware of West sticking his fingers in Hayward's ear and Dirk talking crap to him right after.

I think keeping your cool is a bigger deal than getting back in someone's face. If someone doesn't intimidate you, why would you have to show it by confrontation so the media knows it?
If anyone hears about a reprimand for Delonte West, please post it.
I like some of the comments I heard a Jazz Beat writer make about West. One was, he is known for not be one of the brightest bulbs around.

Wow. I hadn't seen the video of AK breaking his nose and getting a concussion in Russia. I'm not sure I remember seeing the front of anyone's head bounce off the floor quite like it did here. Almost as if he was knocked out before he hit the floor.

Mr. Hayward is 3rd in the league in opponent production, the variant of opponent PER used in the Simple Rating on 82games.
1 - Iguodala 8.8
2 - Battier 9.2
3 - Hayward 9.6
4 - Meeks 9.9
5 - James 10.0
I love that his FT% is up to 83% this year. He always looked like a better FT shooter than the results he was getting so I think that % being the low 80's will be the norm going forward. And like last year, his outside shooting is really coming on late in the year. He shot 38% from 3 in March and is 50% so far in April.
With his all-court game, especially on defense, the closest comp for Hayward in the league right now might be Iggy. I always wanted Iguodala on the Jazz because of his defense, solid rebounding for his position, and especially because of how underrated he is in terms of creating offense for his teammates (averages about 6 apg for his career). Looks like maybe KOC drafted the next Iggy instead of trading for him.

You cut him! You hurt him! You see? You see? He's not a machine, he's a man!Originally posted by Jacob View PostWow. Not good news on a night when the draft got a bit deeper with Teague and Lamb joining the 3 that were certain early departures from Kentucky.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostA detroit win tonight, which seems likely against the cavs, would move them behind gs if I'm not mistaken.

GS has to get a win or 2 or we are doomed. I just don't see it happening. They have very few NBA players on the floor, and they aren't playing anyone who has any reason to tank. Their best shot may be their last shot of the season against SA. But they just lost to the faux SA team by 30.
