Chad Ford says it's not going to happen. Pat Riley was stupid. He let a trade exception expire a few days ago that they could have used to absorb the salary of CJ Miles in a separate deal to the Haslem and Fodder/Boozer deal.

Ronnie Brewer may have been dealt by Utah to the Grizzlies in exchange for a protected first round pick, according to a report from Ross Siller of the Salt Lake Tribune.

Utah would move under the luxury tax under such a scenario.

Would make sense for the Jazz to have moved Brew. He's been entrenched in the starting lineup despite some of the worst and most inconsistent play of his career - and guys like Matthews and Korver playing well - as if the Jazz have been trying to showcase him.

This is probably a good trade, but the devils advocate in me says the Jazz just traded a starter on a team that has won 15 of 17 and is 3rd place in the conference and got nothing (for this season) in return. On the surface it would appear they are not trying to get better this year. Rather perhaps risking getting worse in favor of saving money and getting better in the future.
