• Which is why, if the Jazz are forced to take Lamar Odom or Caron Butler in a deal for Eric Bledsoe — as rumored — don't be surprised if they push for Odom. He comes of the books this season while Butler is under contract for one more year.

I could see why they'd push for Odom, but I sure hope they don't view Butler as a deal killer. I certainly see and understand what they're trying to do with the cap space, but I think for at least next season they're still in the position to eat some salary. They certainly have to be thinking about new deals for Favors and Hayward, but the salary situation for next season doesn't really impact that. Plus, Butler can still give you something, coming off the bench to play some 3. He may be overpaid, but for one year it wouldn't be a big deal.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Rednecks' homie has said the Jazz have had interest in Evans before.Sources tell Rotoworld that the Kings are open to moving Tyreke Evans and Aaron Brooks.
This isn't too surprising given the state of affairs in Sacramento, as they recently traded No. 5 overall pick Thomas Robinson in a salary dump for a modest, or as some would say awful return of Patrick Patterson and spare parts. Brooks was widely known to be on the block, but news of Evans' availability is new. We'll let you know more as the story develops. Marc Stein adds that Boston is revisiting old talks about Evans, and sources tell us Utah might also emerge in talks. Jason Jones just updated that Evans will not be dealt, but it's early. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Clips apparently talking to C's again about Garnet for Bledsoe swap. I have to think they'll push this one right until the end, and then if it doesn't work maybe go for the Sap deal.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I think they leaked the Milsap deal to try and put pressure on the C's. The leak certainly didn't come out of Utah.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostClips apparently talking to C's again about Garnet for Bledsoe swap. The Milsap-Bledsoe deal makes so much sense for both sides. I think it increases the Clippers odds of making the Finals this year quite a bit better. And he'll probably be there for a few years. And Bledsoe is exactly what the Jazz need at PG to grow with the young group of lottery picks they already have.

I think that's definitely a possibility.Originally posted by wapiti View PostI think they leaked the Milsap deal to try and put pressure on the C's. The leak certainly didn't come out of Utah.
It makes a lot more sense for Utah than LAC. Sap is kind of redundant (not necessarily in terms of skill but in position), probably not enough to push them over the top, and I have to believe their odds of signing him would be very low.The Milsap-Bledsoe deal makes so much sense for both sides. He would get 10 minutes for Griffin, 15 minutes for Jordan, and 5 at the 3. He's a big upgrade over what they have for 25 of those 30 minutes. I actually think it may be enough to put them over the top in the west.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI think that's definitely a possibility.

The latter problem is bigger. He's due for a raise and the Clippers are already pushing into the luxury tax and have to resign Paul this summer.

It just doesn't work out with the minutes like that. Not a good deal for the clips, imo.Originally posted by wapiti View PostHe would get 10 minutes for Griffin, 15 minutes for Jordan, and 5 at the 3. I just don't want these guys to walk for nothing, but I also don't want to build around Sap and Jefferson long term. The Jazz have a lot of money this summer and the temptation will be to re-sign them and keep the security blanket of finishing seventh and turning a profit.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI'd love to know which terrific deals they turned down that have you so ticked.
It is hard to get free agents of note to sign here, so they need to bring guys in through trades. They should have done what it took to make the Bledsoe trade happen.
They are idiots. I'm not going to spend my money on a product that gives us a coach like Corbin and has a front office that fails to use the assets on hand to attempt to build towards the future. They're just happy with where they're at and I'm not spending money on that.
The Jazz are stuck in perpetual mediocrity. They have enough good players to assure we'll be competitive to at least make the playoffs as a low end seed, but they aren't bad enough that we'll suck and get a lottery pick. Either you need to tank or be great. The Jazz are unable to do either and not moving some of these guys out last offseason assured this will continue for this year.
I can get behind a young team that is developing. I can't get behind the same old crap we've already seen recently with Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap as the centerpieces. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

There's nothing wrong with them walking for nothing. They're not going to build around Sap and Jefferson long-term. I do think they'll re-sign one of them if the price is right, but they need three bigs in their rotation anyway. If both command contracts that no longer make it worth it, I'm sure they'll let both walk.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI just don't want these guys to walk for nothing, but I also don't want to build around Sap and Jefferson long term. We have no idea if (1) the Clips deal was even real and (2) if they didn't make a reasonable effort to get that deal to go through. It is hard to get free agents of note to sign here, so they need to bring guys in through trades. They should have done what it took to make the Bledsoe trade happen.
Jefferson and Sap have never been the centerpieces. The only real centerpiece that's been here in the last 10 years was Deron, and Al and Sap were what they ended up putting around him. When the Deron situation turned to shit, they were left with those two and didn't have a lot left to do other than wait them out so they can transition to the next group that won't win a championship and will have the fans complaining in 4 years that they should just be playing the young guys instead.I can get behind a young team that is developing. The Bledsoe deal was so obvious from the Jazz side that we have to assume the deal failed from the Clippers.
There is still an opportunity to get something from Milsap and/or Jefferson via sign and trade. There aren't a lot of teams with cap space so for either one to get paid their value they may need to work a deal through Utah.
