    From John Hollinger:

"Beyond that, it's Derrick Favors time. Here's an amazing stat: Favors has played 47 minutes in this series and is a plus-6. The other 49 minutes the Jazz are minus-52. Granted, garbage time influenced that stat a bit, but the guy is rapidly becoming an absolute beast on defense. The conclusion is to put Favors out there early and often -- perhaps even start him, with Paul Millsap at the 3 or coming off the bench."

What does Favors have to do to get more minutes?

      1. Lie about his playoff experience.
      2. Date the coach's daughter.
      3. Take incriminating photos of the coach.

        Jody Genessy ‏ @DJJazzyJody
@saltcityhoops @johnhollinger The Jazz will almost certainly try to bring Josh Howard back next season. O'Connor and Corbin rave about him.
Do O'Connor and Corbin have a crystal ball that tells them that Josh Howard is going to turn 27 next year instead of 33? Because that's the last time he was any good. Now I don't hate Howard. If you are only paying him $2m per year and he is coming off the bench instead of CJ Miles, that's not a terrible thing. But I don't see how it's much of a good thing either.

The appallingly bad shooting Utah Jazz. eFG% on jumpshots per the most recent 82games update.

Evans - 55% (he's probably taking three jumpshots)
          Roger - 52%
          Harris - 47.3%
          Hayward - 45.6%
          Jefferson - 42.6%
          Tinsley - 42.1%
          Miles - 39%
Sap - 38.7% (big regression for him)
          Howard - 36.2%
          Ahearn - 35.7%
          Caroll - 35.4%
          Favors - 34.4%
          Burks - 34%
          Kanter - 31.2%
          Watson - 30.1%

          That is seriously ugly.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

            Idiot.

            @tribjazz

Corbin acknowledged Favors has earned minutes. But he again said matchup/timing/rotation issues vs. Spurs have limited Favors' use.

More Corbin on Favors "Derrick should play more, I need to find a way to get him more minutes on the floor, if it is the big line-up whether that is the answer, playing him at the 4 or playing small, we have to see .... with him on the floor we are better."
Is this an admission that he sucks as a coach? He knew all this before but he couldn't "find a way" to get him on the floor before? I wonder what the great obstacle is that prevents Corbin from telling Favors to check in? Is he just forgetful?

                Match-up, timing, and rotation issues...

                @Lockedonsports

Spurs have outscored Jazz 108-56 with Parker on floor and Favors on bench - with Favors and Parker on floor - Jazz lead 54-49

Don't blame Al. He's never watched Dancing With The Stars so he's unaware that simply sliding over two steps, extending your jazzy hands, and slowing up the point guard for just a moment is part of his job. He's got to save his energy for the 12 second weezie.

What is so hard to understand about that, Ty?

Popovich is just laughing at your inability to dictate terms. What an idiot.

I love how David Locke comes to the same conclusions that most people watching come to, but he always has to revert to defending the Jazz and Corbin rather than sticking by his own conclusions. He concluded his analysis of Favors vs the Spurs thusly:
                        Can Derrick play all 48?
As we know, the answer is clearly no. Because you have to get to 22 before you can get to 48.

The truth is that the Jazz can't beat the Spurs no matter who plays. But that only makes this all the more frustrating as we were sold the playoffs as invaluable experience for the future. Somebody needs to let Corbin in on the secret that Favors is the future. Even if he weren't, more time for him now give the Jazz a slightly better chance of competing in this series. Same goes for Burks, really, at least as far as the experience goes. In conclusion, Howard's playoff experience is a detriment to the Jazz because it has led to more important players gaining less of that which Corbin claims is so valuable.

I'm wondering why it took Corbin almost 96 minutes of game time to employ this strategy of defending Parker with Hayward going under the pick every time. The Jazz will probably lose even doing that because Parker is a good mid-ranger shooter, but if they let him get in the lane at will they might as well not even play the games because they have no chance - as evidenced in the first two games.
