I'm thinking it is going to be Exum or Vonleh. If Exum drops the Jazz will draft him. If the top 4 are gone, Vonleh will be the draft pick. I'm also frequently wrong, so I'm ready to be wrong on this one and have Mark Grace bring it up in response to at least 50% of my posts for the next 2-3 years. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

He averaged 18, 4 and 4 on 44% FGs (33% 3pt) against HS players in his most extensive time on the court an any semblance of a league. Most draft prospects produced better than that against college competition.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostMost secret draft boards have McDermott over Exum.
What is it about Exum that has execs and analysts jumping for joy? I've heard the Penny comparisons, but Penny was an explosive athlete, while plays a very "on the court" style. He can't shoot well. And while he might have the length that projects to be a good defensive player, what can teams really know about his defense after playing in Australia and all-star games against high school players? I'm intrigued at how GMs look for in a young player like Exum and decide he's more Penny than he is Dennis Schroeder or Michael Carter-Williams.
If you have decent size and athleticism, I'm thinking guys like Zach LaVine, James Young, Jordan McRae, you're better off just not playing in any leagues, get a good agent, and boom! you're a top 5 pick in the draft because you can't find fault with somebody who doesn't play in a league.
LaVine seems to be the guy most similar to Exum. Similar age, size, athleticism, etc. I can't imagine LaVine not being able to put up at least 18, 4 and 4 on 44 and 33% against HS players while playing for Australia this past season.
If he's MCW, he's a huge success, IMO.Last edited by smokymountainrain; 06-10-2014, 01:12 PM.I'm like LeBron James.

As a fan of Randle and Smart, such reports give me the most hope since all these NBA teams are lying this time of year.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostGenessy of the DewsNews says along with Ford's report of Jazz not being high on Smart he's also hearing they aren't big fans of Randle.
Could it be the Jazz finally want to get some shooting on the team?I'm like LeBron James.

I bet Noah Vonleh would have also benefited from this strategy. Just think how much people would be impressed by his size and athleticism if they didn't have a season of him frequently disappearing on the college level to look at.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostHe averaged 18, 4 and 4 on 44% FGs (33% 3pt) against HS players in his most extensive time on the court an any semblance of a league. We should now all be thrilled that we dropped in the lottery. We are going to get the best player in the draft and only have to pay him a salary of the 5th pick.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostYep. He'd be #1 overall! As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Jazz hired an offensive head coach. Two rumors of asst coaches being pursued are Messina and Engellend, two offensive guys. Darvin Ham rumored as lead asst, I don't think he's done enough coaching to be an offensive or defensive guy. Alex Jensen and Johnnie Bryant are still under contract I believe, and the front office has said they'd like to have Brad Jones back if Snyder feels the same.
Who is going to install a consistent defensive scheme that works?

Alex Jensen. He worked with Majerus, so he has the mentoring to be a great defensive coach.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostJazz hired an offensive head coach. The rumors earlier were that he was refusing to come in and workout because of the Burke/Burks situation. Same for Exum.Originally posted by Jacob View PostSo Marcus Smart tweeted that he wasn't going to work out for Utah because "they aren't interested in me." Anyone know if that was legit? So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
