Jane wins the NCAA regionals by 42 seconds. 2nd place runner took 2nd in the NCAA finals last year. Jane has to be the favorite to win it all next week.

Unfortunately, BYU took 2nd to New Mexico by 2 pts. Need to clean that up.

From the other regional results, it looks like she has a couple from Alabama who will give her some competition that finished 18:43 and 18:49. But she was more 38 seconds off her pace from the Big12 championship, so hopefully that means she has something left to bump herself up next week.

Looking further, she ran her regional in the thin mountain air in SLC and next week will be where she set the course record earlier this year.

She didn't even look winded at the finish today. I think she wins it next week by 24 seconds.

You can't compare results like that. They ran different courses and each course is different, even when the distances are the same. Also, altitude, etc.

She is not even close to emptying the tank. Like BP said, she wins easily next week. The whole team was cruising at altitude this week in prep for next week. There was never any doubt that they would advance and its all about the national championship that they are chasing.

She wins next week. The only question is will the second-place finisher be visible in the video of her crossing the line. I say no.

That is why I made the edit.

Jane's dad put together an individual clip of every runner, both men and women, in the Regional Race. I am assuming he used some software application but still it had to require some amount of effort- indicators are Dr Hedengren is a good dude! My wife got to go down and watch- her younger sister's daughter is ISU's #2 and was blown away by how easy Jane makes it look.

Are you saying every BYU runner or every runner in the field?

What a great athlete. She was clearly upset with the loss, but man, she explained herself and her strategy with a lot of poise.
