Tut tut, the game was never in doubt, it was the playing down to their opponent for the first 30 minutes.Originally posted by Flystripper View Postare all the eyore's still worried?"Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

TJ set a BYU record for behind the back passes.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

The Holy Ghost is still with you to some extent. You speak truth.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostI love TJ's game, and despite his current struggles he'll end up as a BYU basketball icon. He's special.
I don't know how it happens but this team needs to transition to TJ being the go to perimeter player next year. To me that means he must become BYU's PG. Bryant or Emery or Popoola (if he miraculously shows up) or Beo can man the position when TJ is out but the only way he will become our dominant perimeter player is if the ball is in his hands the most. Emery will get his shots but Nick needs to develop into a good defender, I think he is taking that role, and then hit open jumpers created for him by TJ and Mika. Basically, if he can be a poor man of his brother on defense and then his brother can be a poor man of him on offense in that Nick is much better slashing and dishing as well as hitting the open jumper.
This is a frustrating year but I think next year subtle improvements in turnovers (15 to 11), 3 pt shooting (32% to 36%) and 2 point shooting (45% to 48%) will result in about 8 more points per game and getting BYU over the hump against the better teams on the schedule.
I think that the difference between decent and good-very good is not as far as many think. This team starts 2 true freshman - one of whom was on a mission the past two years, another starter was on a mission the past two years and another starter was injured most of the past two years. The other starter has spent all of his life as the man and is having to accept the transition to a "preferred" role player. They should not have lost to UVU and they should have beaten either Valpo or Illinois, but the future is still very bright IMO, but I am an admitted optimist!Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Agree about TJ. We are better off with him running the point, vs. Rose.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostThe Holy Ghost is still with you to some extent. You speak truth.

But I am less than convinced BYU is better when Beo or Guinn or Leifson are on the court instead of LJ.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostAgree about TJ. We are better off with him running the point, vs. Rose.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Guinn is a spaz and should be permanently benched. Beo has potential but still has the yips when he shoots. Not sure about Leifson.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostBut I am less than convinced BYU is better when Beo or Guinn or Leifson are on the court instead of LJ."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Wasn't it Leifson that took three straight 3s with at least 24 seconds on the clock, badly missing all of them? He deserved to get benched after that.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostGuinn is a spaz and should be permanently benched. Beo has potential but still has the yips when he shoots. I agree. I think Beo would be an adequate back up by next year. I think that his potential is being seen and my guess is he will get the most back up minutes to prepare him for next year. It would be really nice if Elijah could like make a triumphal return like his namesake. If that kid is going to be a key cog going forward he needs minutes.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostGuinn is a spaz and should be permanently benched. I agree. Right now my bet with GM doesn't look very promising.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI agree. I think Beo would be an adequate back up by next year. Leifson is kind of a combination of Guinn and Beo. He has the yips when he shoots, and he's a spaz who should be permanently benched.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostGuinn is a spaz and should be permanently benched. LJ is not fully recovered yet he is far better than any of those three. I don't like seeing Guinn or Leifson on the Court. Everyone I have spoken with, including former coaches, is shocked Steven is getting minutes this year. It was assumed by all, myself included, he would redshirt this year and maybe get back up minutes next year. I'm sure some of his PT is him working hard and being better than expected. Unfortunately, I think the majority of it is due to the other guards playing much worse than anticipated.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI agree.
