If BYU doesn't win the NC in 2019-2020 I will be here to remind you it was because Rose did not listen to me and didn't redshirt Haws and Collinsworth 5 years earlier.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Hey, I'm not saying it isn't sound advice, just saying this knowledge keeps me from checking myself in to therapy (and don't worry, there's always someone more invested than you).Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostIf BYU doesn't win the NC in 2019-2020 I will be here to remind you it was because Rose did not listen to me and didn't redshirt Haws and Collinsworth 5 years earlier.
And by invested, I mean certifiable.

OOC Schedule:
http://byucougars.com/schedule/m-basketball
The one comment I have is I think other than Maui the two toughest games are likely to be Stanford and UMass in Provo, and I like that those two are the final two games of the OOC schedule. The game in Logan and the game against the Utes at home will be tough as well - especially because it will be before Aytes is eligible, but with the two biggies after Aytes can start playing is a good development and wise scheduling by the staff.
If BYU can get at least one solid win in Maui, not choke in Logan, hold off the Utes at home without Aytes and get both of the toughies at the end of the OOC schedule they will be about a lock for an at large bid if they don't melt down in conference play like they almost did last year.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

A decent if not spectacular OOC schedule but I will be very impressed if we make the tourney this year though. I just think we lack the outside shooting and defense to make it happen this year. I hope Rose and the new big men prove me wrong.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostOOC Schedule:

SVU...that's kind of cool.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostA decent if not spectacular OOC schedule but I will be very impressed if we make the tourney this year though. Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Are you referring to the Law & Order spinoff or are you sarcastically making reference to the back-loaded schedule?Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostSVU...that's kind of cool."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

Haha...I legitimately think it is cool that they're playing them. Maybe they'll give em a home and home so Surfah can go.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostAre you referring to the Law & Order spinoff or are you sarcastically making reference to the back-loaded schedule?"They're good. I wonder how well an anxiety disorder meshes with playing ball in front of 20K fans in a big arena. I hope the kid finds a way to manage things and have a normal life.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThere's a chance that Toolson may be at BYU this fall. No clue. But I think the routine of doing something he's done for most of his life will help even if it is on a bigger stage. I really like Toolson. His jumper is very nice.Originally posted by Joe Public View PostI wonder how well an anxiety disorder meshes with playing ball in front of 20K fans in a big arena. He had really good all around numbers. He would probably be one of the top 2 deep threats as it would be between him and Fischer. That would be two more than last year. In HS I thought I read that Jake also really rebounded the ball well for a wing. I think he almost averaged a double-double. I did watch some highlights and I think he will struggle early creating shots for himself but for as well as he rebounds I don't think he is totally stiff. I don't think he is as athletic as TJ Haws, but I really liked what I read about him. However, I don't see that many minutes for him next year. With returning starters of Haws and Winder, Fischer coming off his redshirt and Jordan Chatman, who I think is more athletic and prepared to defend at this level, joining the club I don't see many minutes for him. If he ends up at BYU this year as a walk-on I don't think RS'ing him is a real bad idea. I could also see him staying home in AZ and attending a JC while he sees if he is able to return to the mission field and if he doesn't do that by the end of the year then transferring up to BYU in January and starting to work out with the team as either a walk on RS or a grayshirt. I really hope BYU doesn't lose him but my guess is his family could afford BYU for a year if necessary and then for 15-16 Rose can either cut somebody loose or Zac Seljaas can go on a mission straight out of HS - probably a good option for him as it will create some space between him and Toolsen/Chatman.Originally posted by Surfah View PostNo clue. He was a beast on the glass. He also scored 27 ppg on 52% shooting as a wing. 38% from three. 84% from the line. He has a very nice, easy stroke. I think he is very underrated and probably didn't get as much love as he deserves because he committed his junior year.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostHe averaged almost 14 boards a game

That is pretty impressive numbers for a 6'5" kid. If he doesn't return to the mission field, or is unable to make it if he does go back again, I hope his eligibility clock at BYU doesn't start until 15-16.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostHe averaged almost 14 boards a game
