This one is also easy. I have no ill will towards Ray Giacoletti. It isn't his fault for accepting the job for the Utes when he was nowhere near qualified for it. The blame for Giacoletti rests on Chris Hill and Mark Few.

I'd be rooting for the Zags.

You should be way more upset with Hill than Few over Giacoletti. What do you expect a coach to say about a fellow coach who is also a good friend and was probably a good assistant? Hill had a dozen options available at the time better than hiring a coach who could barely get to .500 at Eastern Washington, regardless of what Few said. Hill was just so enamoured by Few that he couldn't see past the obvious, which is very bad for an AD to do.

I do place more blame on Hill than on Few, but Few blatantly lied about Giacoletti.

Rose hasn't had any other player record a triple double in his entire BYU coaching career (head coach or otherwise). Rose has played uptempo and had good shooter his entire time as HC yet has no other player with a triple double. Kyle set the goal at the start of his ACL rehab and has worked hard to achieve it.

As SMR pointed out BYU's pace of play isn't unique in a historical context. This year BYU is averaging 70.2 possessions per game. Only 12 other teams are averaging 70+ possessions per game. In 2002 when Ken Pomeroy started tracking there were 150 teams playing as fast or faster as BYU plays this year. Yet none of those teams had a player do what KC has done this year. That isn't a gimmick, that is historic.

I agree, it isn't gimmick and it is historic. Maybe not as historic as a triple double in the elite eight against the defending champions to send your team to the final four, but historic none the less.

I'm sure you've explained this before, but my memory's weak. How did he lie? I wonder if it was simply puffery, similar to Mariucci's salesmanship on behalf of Holmoe for the Cal job, which had similar results. Unless Few truly misstated some material facts, as opposed to offering only some biased opinions, I wouldn't knock the guy at all. I'd put it all on Hill.

Games that would severely weaken or kill a rival bubble teams chances in order of most damaging to less damaging to the bubble team:

                  Auburn over A&M
                  USC over UCLA
                  Northwestern over Indiana
                  ISU over Texas
                  Notre Dame over Miami
                  S. Carolina over Mississippi

Games that would hurt but not necessarily derail a bubble team:
                  Oklahoma over OSU

Stanford over Utah we want to help Stanford get into the top 50 and help us.
UMass about to lose to LaSalle doesn't help. We want their rpi to move up.
Adding in times and channels for those keeping score at home. All times eastern :-)

Auburn over A&M: 3pm SEC network
USC over UCLA: 5:30 P12 network
                  Northwestern over Indiana: 6:30 ESPN2
                  ISU over Texas: 7pm ESPNU

Notre Dame over Miami: 9PM ESPN
                  S. Carolina over Mississippi: 9PM SEC network

                  • We may as well add Boise State to the list. We want them to lose to Air Force. That game is going on now but of course because it's a MWC game it's not available on a channel anyone can access. Ok, it's on CBS Sports Network, which I can access, but it's always fun to take a dig at the MWC. BSU is up by 1 over AFA close to halftime. Losing this one to rpi #236 AFA could very well drop the Broncos into the NiT.

Please answer this question and this question only:

A player's odds of getting double digits in assists, rebounds, and/or scoring are enhanced if a team plays an uptempo offense with a greater number of offensive possessions. True or false?

                          • Now answer this question, independently of the previous question.

KC's triple double record is a remarkable achievement under any circumstances, given that it has only been done three times now (and never in a single season). True or false?

Those are two completely independent questions. You can answer "True" to both questions. Why does that seem so outrageous?

True. Now your turn: Stating that something is a gimmick implicitly diminishes said thing. True or false?

True. However, I would find it hard to answer true to this question if I also called the remarkable achievement a gimmick, which wapiti did and you said that you agreed with him.
