This is what happens when you concede anything to a Ute fan. Lesson re-learned.

Seemed about on par with other employees at KSL including Wrubell. I guess they employ blind BYU and blind Utah homers now.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostBut written by a Ute fan. It was a total bleacher report worthy opinion piece. It was bad.
The conclusion was right though, Delon Wright is the best player in the state. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

LOL. Please. I grew up in the Pac 10. I attended the first Pac 10 basketball tournament in Pauley and then saw Sean Elliott win his second MVP in the Forum two years later before they cancelled the tournament. I have long pined for BYU to be in the Pac 10 and that hasn't changed. If BYU could be in any conference of my choice it'd be the Pac 10.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostI have been a Pac-10/Pac-12 basketball fan long before the Utes were included. I'm a west coaster and I support west coast basketball. My priority for rooting interests in college basketball have always been Utah first, Pac-10/Pac-12 second. You are right, I'm a conference cheerleader.
However, as much as I'm a cheerleader you are a hater of the Pac-10/Pac-12. I guess neither of us really can put out an objective opinion on this evaluation.
That said. The Pac 12 is overrated. And has been for sometime. http://statsheet.com/mcb/rankings/re...most_overrated"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

When your overrated index is basically all the power conferences, there is a problem with your rating system.Originally posted by Surfah View PostLOL. Please. I grew up in the Pac 10. LOL. Funk I can't take you seriously anymore.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostBecause he deserves it. I have long considered how Utah and BYU react to their awful announcers as one of the great examples of how Utah and BYU fans are different. Wrubell is absolutely god awful. He is terrible. He has no redeemable qualities as an announcer. The same can be said of Bill Riley for the Utes. The difference, Utes acknowledge this but BYU fans think that Wrubell actually is good at his job.
The exact same thing happened when Paul James and Bill Marcroft were the respective voices of BYU and Utah."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

The rating is based on differential. Obviously the power conferences get more teams ranked, especially in early season polls which is why you see them all here among the overrated.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostWhen your overrated index is basically all the power conferences, there is a problem with your rating system."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

You are right, Riley is awful. Wrubell is not, however. While he is a homer to BYU, BYU is very lucky to have him. I have lived many places in the US and most every other announcer for college football is on par with Riley.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostBecause he deserves it. Here is the deal. Everyone hates Riley because he is bad. Ute fans hate Wrubell because he is BYU. That's it.Originally posted by imanihonjin View PostYou are right, Riley is awful. I don't like Wrubell. I love Wrubell. I don't understand what you expect from the voice of the Cougars.Originally posted by mpfuk View PostYou actually like Wrubell? I can't take you seriousy anymore.
Take heart, you're still my favorite BYU Ute. Right up there with LA BYUte and Utahcougar Dan."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Hot Lunch gets honorable mention since he didn't attend like the others. Not surprisingly it's all the "Ute" fans with the strongest BYU connections that spend the most time here.Originally posted by Surfah View PostI don't like Wrubell. I love Wrubell. I've been thinking it's the BYU fans with the strongest Weber State connections. I have no BYU connections except relatives who went there, one who was a prof, and one who was the president. Very attenuated. I could have gone there but decided not to.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostHot Lunch gets honorable mention since he didn't attend like the others. He isn't employed by KSL, Deseret Media cut most of their journalists for ksl.com/deseret news and instead now let's anyone submit articles and then are paid for the article if they use it. That's why you see mostly message board posts and blog posts masquerading as articles over there now.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostSeemed about on par with other employees at KSL including Wrubell. The conclusion was right though, Delon Wright is the best player in the state."I don't mind giving the church 10% of my earnings, but 50% of my weekend mornings? Not as long as DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket is around." - Daniel Tosh
