I need an irony ruling here.

But the Utes needed to play some real teams in the preseason to get the kind of grit they are not starting to display. This team never had a problem being competitive playing anyone. And this team has shown amazing resiliancy following some very agonizing defeats. He should have given them a preseason that tested them.
A preseason that tested them and a final record of 18-16 and you are calling for his head.

lol KSL publishes and article saying Delon Wright is better than Tyler Haws (not too daring an opinion, since the NBA scouts agree and Utah beat BYU by what 17), and Surfah immediately denounces the article as a piece of shit. When BYU loses, BYU always beat itself. He's totally unobjective. I criticize Utah coaches and teams all the time. I just did. I've said whit needs to up his recruiting game. I personally chased Boylen out of town.

I say no. I wouldn't expect anything less out of SU.

No way. Have you seen me call for Whit's head? I know the challenges these guys face transitioning from the MWC to the Pac 12. Especially Kodiak who took over a program a decimated by criminally negligent buffoon.

I also think that with a better preseason sked they'd have won a few more Pac 12 games.

The article is a piece of shit, you can't publish an article based on statistical conclusions when your statistics are inaccurate, you lose all credibility. Even you are smart enough to realize that. It is a mistrial.

Did you seriously just claim to be objective? That's hilarious.

I have read a lot of tweets, articles, posts, etc. about Utah's non-conference schedule killing any chance they have of making the tournament and how it completely backfired on Special K, I have even read several things about him underestimating his talent and not believing in his team.

I actually think the non-conference schedule is exactly why they continue to improve. This is a program that won 6 games two years ago, 7 of those losses were by 6 points or less. Last year they won 15 games with 9 losses by 6 points or less.

This is a team that lacked confidence when they were put in tough situations and they had to learn how to win games. The early season soft schedule instilled a lot of confidence in this team and they learned how to win and how to protect their home court.

I would imagine next year this team will play a tougher non-conference schedule and they will learn how to win on the road in a hostile environment. Cal was the first step towards doing that.

They have lost on the road by 2, 2, 3, 4, 9, 4 (OT), and 14. You have to believe another year with Relief Society Arm Loveridge and the brother of Dorrell that they will start to figure it out and win some of these road games. If you finish above .500 in the Pac (assuming you don't play the worst non-conference schedule in the country) most years you are a lock for the tournament and looking at a seed between 6 and 10.

Before last night the only true road win in conference was at USC. I really believe the non-conference slate was key for them to make this run.
The problem is that he could have accomplished the same thing with a schedule in the 150-250 range of college basketball. If Utah's OOC schedule was even top 200, Utah would be in the conversation for the NCAA tournament. Problem is that our schedule was 300+ which you just can't do. Utah had Stew Morrill's dream non-conference schedule and it was embarrassing.

Your first truth is actually right, your 2nd "truth" is nothing more than typical BYU sour grapes towards the Pac-12. The Pac-12 is very good this year. They are going to send a minimum 5 teams to the dance and will have 7 teams that are deserving. Compare that to the WCC which may be a 1 bid league and at most has 2 deserving teams.

Nobody is comparing the Pac-12 to the WCC. Of course the Pac-12 is better.

With that being said, the pac-12 is solid this year, but they have no elite teams (now that Arizona is without Ashley) which hurts the conference reputation. Jerry Palm is right, they have Arizona who will be a 1 seed, and 6, eleven seeds. The number of teams that may get in show the depth of the conference (although Cal and Stanford losing last night actually hurts the conference) they also might not have a single team make it past the first weekend.

Actually I said the article was fucking dumb. It was the kind of topic reserved for a student paper or as someone here said, Bleacher Report. It's embarrassing that it came from the Tribune. It was poorly written and the argument was poorly executed. Please refute any of that.
