Really, three. Maj was pretty much forced out, right?

Majerus? Heart issues, I know. But he was rumored to be looking for a way out. Or at least that's how I remember it.

Explain to me how firing a coach makes a school a stepping stone program?

        Thanks in advance.

Dude, please explain to me how firing coaches make Utah a stepping stone school. Thanks in advance.

You remember wrong. Chris Hill was a moron and ran Majerus out of town. Majerus is the example that Utah is not a stepping stone school in basketball. Majerus had several other jobs offered to him and remained at Utah, until the Utes made the horrible choice to push him out because of some stupid Gordon Monson story. Hey, but it had pictures of Lance Allred with puppies, so we had to get rid of Majerus.

Not to mention the fact that your argument is just stupid. Coaches have rarely left either school for a bigger job. As for BYU, you are obviously referring to Steve Cleveland who took another job because he saw the writing on the wall. He did not see it as a step up. Trust me on this one, he and I are good friends.

You are giving cougjunkie way too much credit. Of course that is to be expected, as he gets away with murder on this site because of his supposed inside information.

                    Just for fun...

Explain to us how having to fire 2 bad coaches in a row makes you a non-stepping stone program?

Obviously you aren't a destination, or you would be getting good coaches that are a known commodity and don't have to be fired a couple of years later. But you aren't getting good coaches. You are taking a shot in the dark and hiring guys that you really really hope will be good.

That screams non-destination program to me.

                    • Majerus stayed because his antics would not have been tolerated anywhere else. Which is what the end of the day he ended up at a shitty school like Saint Louis. The world is a better place with him dead.

This might be a bit strong, but Majerus was far from every parent's dream coach for their child. A Ute fan would have to have their head pretty far in the sand to ignore a lot of terrible stories about him.

Even Indiana had to part ways with Knight after awhile, and Majerus was probably worse than Knight.
