BYU has a new contract for Rose to sign and folks in Provo expect he will agree to it, sign it and be happy with the contents.

As I was not really concerned at all that Rose might leave, this news is underwhelming. But welcome.

I agree. Holmoe will finish his tenure as the AD with BYU having its most consistent run in the only two things about his job that I really care.

Holmoe has been AD for six years and in that six years BYU has had three top 15 football teams, won 4 bowl games, won two outright football conference championships, had the hoops team invited to the WCC, gone independent in football, won two outright conference championships in hoops, tied for two conference championships in hoops, gone to the NCAA tourney 5 times, won 3 games in the NCAA tourney, locked in the best hoop coach in BYU history to probably a career at the BYU, made my nipples hard numerous times, offended UNLV fans (whose final memory was Jimmer grudgedoin' em up the keester) and gave the mullahs all the moral highground they needed through the Brandon Davies pecker stomping brouhaha.

Most of the above is pretty damn good given the restrictions and challenges at the BYU.

I vote for Holmoe to get a raise!

Agreed on all counts, and seconded as to the raise. Viking and K'Dog need to open their wallets again.

Even my Cal friends are acknowledging Holmoe is doing a fine job, something they thought was highly improbable six years ago.

BTW, I think BYU athletics are helped by the fact that the AD and two head coaches are either converts or non-BYU guys.

I don't know if changes were made but after the decade from news of Ronney Jenkins tapping it the first time until Dave Rose was hired was a pretty damn miserable stretch. There were some good times in there but a whole lot of mediocrity, far too much suckitude and the most frustrating thing.....not one season was properly finished. The closest was perhaps the 2001 Hoops team tying for the MWC Championship and then winning the tourney but now that guys like you and I are soooooo experienced with victories in the Big Dance, I look back at my joy when Mikeli finished off UNM similar to junior high makeout sessions.

The past six years have been much, much better and methinks the next 3 years are going to be very pleasurable.

PG - Carlino, Chatman
SG - Harrison, Winder
SF - Clyburn, Haws, Loveridge
PF - C. Collinsworth, Rogers, Austin
C - Davies, Harward

So Rose would probably be happy to have him come practice with the team for a year and then finish out his carere playing in a system that would work great for him. His versatility and rebounding would let him play the 3 or 4 in BYU's system, and would make sure the team didn't have to rely on Haws too much right off his mission. And it'd be a good fit in terms of him just holding that spot for one year.

He's considering transferring, but just wishing on the ending up in Provo end.

When asked about the possibility of transferring, Clyburn said, "I guess we'll see when I get my release. I haven't really put my name out there, because I haven't got my release yet."

but im pretty sure a S. Rogers battle with USU is going to happen with-in two weeks with a pretty big JC recruit. Looks like he will go to BYU even though he may have to walk-on a year and would have a full ride with the aggies.

Below are the stats I could find from this year which are pretty underwhelming, maybe he just started playing ball. Anyone have more info? He is #34 in the picture below.

My understanding is he will not be a scholarship player. But I agree with you, it seems like a waste of time.
