I can't recall ever seeing Davies shoot a left hand jump hook. He loves to face up, spin, and come back with a right hand scoop shot but jump hook is uncommon and left hand jump hook, I can't think of.

For those who still believe Nashif is coaching the bigs, watch the video and tell me who works with the bigs.

He probably pulled out in time but just went the wrong direction, like KC, and lost control. It happens to the best of us.

I smiled. Perceptively, considering she's his mom, she said, "Don't worry, Logan doesn't think he is a basketball star either. He loves BYU and loves basketball and is just happy to be able to practice with the guys. I think he would practice with them and try to help them be better even if he knew he wouldn't play." Rebuked I told her I thought he had a role on the team and contributed well.

Bottom line, Logan may have gotten blocked by the rim but he sure as hell puts in the time and effort. He knows he is barely serviceable but is willing to do anything to help the team win.
I dont question his hustle or his heart. But he is a massive liability on offense and slightly less one on defense. When we have Magnusson and Big Game out there, we are basically playing 3 on 5 when we are on offense.

The Rim block was problematic on two fronts....the obvious one was that he was stuffed on a wide open layup or dunk. The bigger problem is that while he made the appropriate cut to the basket for the pass and score, he looked shocked or terrified or both when he caught it. He knows what he is supposed to be doing but it just seems that he is terrified, which is why he generally looks serviceable at best, but clumsy most of the time.

To be fair, his 3 point display recently was amazing and he deserves credit for that. But when we had Rogers, KC, Big Game, Jimmer and Jax in against Gonzaga, we were doing damage. That lineup was working.

I really hope Logan has a great game tomorrow. We are going to need it.

I have to disagree here, Logan only shoots very wide open shots, and shoots for a good percentage. Sure, he isn't really a threat that a defense needs to respect, but he knows his role and he stays within it. I also like how he seems to piss guys off when he's defending them. Wasn't it Logan that drew the technical on Quintrell Thomas at UNLV this year? I think he's had a few such times where he's gotten in somebody's head.

I have no argument on Big Game, homeboy should NEVER shoot the ball. Dunks are permitted, but anything else should earn him lashes after the game.

The problem with Logan is that even when he has a wide open shot he kicks it out.

            • Another thought on the Florida team. Florida has not had a player foul out of a game this year. They are physical but they don't foul and they are deep. This is really positive imho. I think we can expect to see a wide open game without a lot of contact defensively by the Gators. I think they will be physical on the rebounds (where we are better off if the ref lets us grab, pull and maim as well) but not on D. That should let Jimmer and the Fredettes get going on their jumpshot game. I think we win a game of HORSE and I think Florida thinks they would like to play one with us.

                • Just saw that St. John's signed 9 guys for 2011. It'd be fun if Rose could capitalize on this run and do something similar for 2012, giving the heave-ho to a few current guys in the process.

Absent the Honor Code he definitely could.

I wonder sometimes if we appreciate how tough it is for a coach like Rose. He only wants to bring kids on board that he thinks can succeed at BYU. He doesn't have the option of bringing on some of the higher risk guys that football can bring on because of the starters/scholarship ratio in basketball. I think it is likely as many as two players who are on scholarship this year won't be on scholarship next fall. I think Carlino will be on scholarship next fall. That leaves one extra spot Rose could sign for next year. Any idea of a viable candidate for that spot that is better than the better of the two guys on the roster who could lose their spot?

I think it is highly likely. Maybe even four.

I should have been more clear. We actually lose 4 scholarship players for certain but I believe we lose at least one and probably two more. Who knows, with the Brandon situation we could lose as many as 7. That said, we have four scholarships that are spoken for.

I'll tell you what. The guy takes at least 2 charges per game. They usually come in big moments as well. I expect he will slide over and get get Walker and Boynton for one foul a piece tomorrow.

We should get some sort of pool going.

                            My prediction:

                            2 points
                            0 assists
                            2 turnovers
                            3 fouls

and the defense will double off him all night long (assuming he is in the game, of course).

                            I hope I'm wrong.

4 fouls (which will be a good thing)
                              1 turnover
2 charges taken resulting in 2 turnovers for the other team.

Not a spectacular stat line but there is some value there.
