See Art's post about the 47 cold-blooded points scored at the Huntsman to see how it became about Jimmer. Better yet, ask Chris Hill if the last straw in the Boylen era wasn't the exact minute Jimmer's 30th, 31st, and 32nd first half points went through the net from 45 feet away.

I've now heard it enough times that I am holding out hope that it's true: Boylen's buyout ceases to exist if he has two losing seasons in a row.

Hill's in a tough position here. He's going to have to land a big fish. To do that, he's going to have to back up a Brink's truck to save the program.

Yet, he can't do that for a coach that is unproven at Utah and NOT keep KW's salary significantly higher.

I think to offer big money to a bball coach, he's going to have to fork it out for Whit, too.

Hey, I'm not agreeing with him on Jimmer. Jimmer is the best player in the country right now.

              I don't think it's close.

He's the most amazing player from a Utah school that I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Andre Miller had a better all around game, but Jimmer, to be honest, is more jaw dropping.

I remember Miller's triple double in the NCAA tournament. It was breathtaking. But he wasn't doing that in every game.

Jimmer is dropping 30+ points regularly and it looks like he doesn't even try. He does it with opponents hanging on him, doubling him... it doesn't matter when you can shoot 15 feet out from the 3 line.

Anyway, bottom line is I don't agree with SU about Jimmer, but he has a point about every damned thread here turning into a Utah-bash or a BYU love fest.

That is crazy. I don't know of any coach in history that has that clause in their contract and I can't imagine that Boylen is the first. If he is, then that is the worst college head coaching contract that I have heard, from the coach's end. If Boylen is fired, the Utes will be paying him for the next few years.

Is that a bad thing? It depends on how much. Regardless, it's better to drizzle it out than make a lump sum payment. It's like an interesr free loan.

Freshman year he averages: 12 points per game in 17 minutes. While shooting over 60% from the floor. (season average was only 7)

Sophomore year he averages 18.6 per game

Junior year he averages 33.25 per game including 45 against TCU in the MWC tournament and 37 against Florida in the NCAA tournament.
Postseason record 1-3 (NCAA tournament as the MWC tournament really doesn't matter). Yes, the verdict is still out on Jimmer in the post season.

Jimmer is a great player and the best player in college hoops right now, but to compare Miller's triple double to anything that Jimmer has done is insane. Miller game far surpasses anything that Jimmer has done in his career. 47 points against a terrible Ute team is nowhere near the realm of Miller's 18 points, 13 assists, and 14 rebounds while going up against the best PG in the country in the elite eight. Jimmer has done some jaw dropping things, but Miller's game was every bit as impressive.

Sorry but 49 against Arizona surpasses Millers triple double. 13 assists that is largely dependent on your teammates, 14 rebounds is nice but he is a guard if he wasn't busy padding his stats he might have been able to push the break a bit more. 18 points is not impressive.

You are up in the night nobody remembers Millers triple double but Ute fans. Jimmers game will be talked about forever.

I like Jimmer as much as the next nonBYU guy. In fact, UteStarrer may become my new name...but I would take a triple double in an Elite 8 NCAA basketball game over 49 points in a December outing any day of the week, including 3 times on Wednesday and twice on Thursday.

With that said, I think the Jimmer is the best college player in the country right now.
