Miller was absolutely amazing in the whole tournament. His skills weren't super flashy, but he was super effective. He did the bulk of the work and I think they might have won the title, but they just ran out of gas. They got that big lead in the first half, but wore down in the second half. I'll admit I was cheering hard for Utah that night.

LOL. No it doesn't. Arizona was defending national champs, Mike Bibby was a consensus All-American (as opposed to Jiggy and Kupets? C'mon now ...) and the Wildcats were the No. 1 team in the country. Jimmer had 0 assists in his 47-point game against Utah, while Miller had a hand in 44 points. And how the hell do you get 13 assists if you're walking the ball up the court? Miller was grabbing rebounds and beating the entire 'Zona team down the floor.

Miller's game gets mentioned every year in March when anyone comes within shouting distance of a triple-double. I'm as big a fan of Fredette's this year as any Utah fan, but saying Fredette's 47 trumps Miller's Elite 8 game is on crack.

Why does it matter how good Bibby was or the accolades he received? He's one of the worst defenders you or I will ever see at the point and as soft as they come. In terms of getting points rebs and assists, I'm not sure there is a PG I'd rather go up against. Sure you might lose the game because he could shoot and ran a team pretty well, but from a pure stats perspective while playing against him, his AA honors mean nothing.

All that said, Miller was amazing in the NCAAs, so I'll leave the arguing to which is more impressive to you all. I'm just saying that talking about how good Bibby was offensively doesn't strengthen the argument about Miller being able to put up stats on him.

I can’t walk across campus without hearing Jimmer Fredette’s name a dozen times. His name comes up everywhere: in class, at work, during lunch … really, people? Cut it out with the Jimmer worship. Last time I checked, idol worship was very much frowned upon in the scriptures.

Don’t you have a life to live? Then quit wasting it in front of the TV or in lines at the Marriott Center.

At the very least, stop trying to convert those of us who don’t follow BYU sports and don’t care that baseball and badminton are two different things. Pushing basketball on us isn’t going to make us like it any better.

I’m not blaming Jimmer for all this; was it Nephi’s fault in the Book of Mormon when his brothers worshiped him? As far as I’m concerned, Jimmer is perfectly free to live his dreams. If he reaches his goals and lives his dreams, more power to him. I would like the same courtesy from his fans: let me live my own dreams in peace, even if they don’t include ever sitting in the Marriott Center screaming my brains out.

I know all of the U.S. coaches histories...pretty familiar with those in Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. I do not know as much about the Russian leagues. So, I probably overspoke earlier.

Jimmer vs. Andre Miller is actually an entertaining debate. I've always been a big fan of Andre Miller. Like Blue Hair I cheered heartily for Utah that March. Unfairly, I think his most amazing performances during that run to the final four are buried because Utah didn't win it all. So they've been relegated to an ESPN page, 2-3 among several. That they share space on the same page with Gerry McNamara's game against BYU is a tragedy.

We'll see how Jimmer does in the tournament, but he is already lightyears ahead of Andre Miller in terms of notoriety. Given the whole package, he'll be remembered for a long time.
